Sighting Details

Early evening on the 19^th January 2012, James steppedout of his house in Wolverhampton. It was 5.20pm and due to the time of yearwas already dark. The weather was relatively clear, with a mild breeze blowing.He looked up into the sky and noticed a glowing white light, which he initiallythought was the moon, although he noted that it looked strange.

He walked out to a local shop on Staveley Road. There were otherpeople around but nobody else seemed to have noticed the white light and werejust going about their business.

As he got close to the shop, James once again looked up into thesky. He was amazed to see that the white light had not been the moon after all.About 200 feet in the air was what appeared to be a black triangular shapedobject with bright white lights around its edge. Due to the brightness of thelights he couldn’t tell how many there were. The object was larger than a housein size, and about 20 foot in depth, similar in shape to a quarter cutsandwich. It was completely motionless and silent.

James observed the object for about 3 minutes. Sadly he didn’thave his mobile phone on him so had no way of filming it. After this time hedecided to go into the shop to get a 2^nd witness. He went up to thecounter and told the shop keeper that there was a UFO outside and that heshould come and take a look at it. This took no longer than 10 seconds but whenboth men returned outside the object had vanished. The shopkeeper wasdisappointed and said that he always wanted to see a UFO.

He looked up into the sky at a glowing light which he initiallythought was the moon. However he soon realised that it was a black triangularshaped object with a white light at each corner hovering completely still inthe sky. He viewed it for a short while before deciding to go inside a nearbyshop to get a 2nd witness. This took no longer than 10 seconds but when hereturned outside the object had vanished.

Sighting Analysis

According to James, there was a new stand being built in the areabut he is aware of what the construction work looks like and is certain that itwas not lights from this. If it had been this, then it would be logical toassume that the lights would have still been present when he went back outside.So it was clear that it was an independent object which had then left the area.

The description of the object certainly fits in with this being asighting of a Flying Triangle craft, one of the more widely reported UFO types.These craft tend to have lights at each corner and sometimes a central oneunderneath. Perhaps this was the case but due to the brightness of the lightsthe witness could not say for sure.

The fact that the object vanished within 10 seconds means that itmust have left the area quite rapidly, or perhaps even made itself invisible,as has been reported in numerous other cases. Either of these put thepossibility of the object being a large drifting inflatable out of thequestion. Also the witness watched the object for a short while and it wasmotionless, so it could not have been a conventional aircraft.

There were other people around so there may well be otherwitnesses to this incident. If you were out in Wolverhampton that evening andalso feel you may have seen the same object, please get in touch.

Introduction

For the last couple of decades one of the more widely reported UFOtypes has been the Flying Triangle. On 13th December 2011 witness Gary Nock gotin touch with BUFOG to report the sighting of one such object, which had beenseen by him and his family on the evening of 7th December. Gary had alsoreported the sighting to the Express and Star newspaper in order to establishwhether anyone else had also seen it. On 14th December I drove out to thesighting location to discuss the incident with Gary face-to-face, and also getsome location photographs. This report contains both a detailed overview ofwhat took place, and the newspaper article.

Sighting Details

It was 6.40pm on the 7th December 2011. Gary Nock, his wife, hisdaughter and her boyfriend Jamie were on their way out to the Badgers Sett pubin Hagley for a meal. It was a very clear and still evening, and due to thetime of year it was dark and the stars were already out.

The pub is situated on Hagley Causeway. Opposite the pub is the ClentHills which are made up of grass covered-fields and areas of woodland. As thefamily approached the pub, Gary noticed some lights out of the front window ofthe car. The lights were off to the right of the road to the East. They werewhite in colour and arranged in a line. They were low down, just over the tops oftrees at the western end of Hagley Wood. They appeared to be heading in thedirection of them and the pub. It was clear that they were attached to a singleobject, but as it was getting dark it was hard to make this out at first. Hepointed the lights out to everyone else in the car.

Gary turned into the pub car park and parked. He was intrigued by thewhite lights and so quickly got out. He asked Jamie to come and take a look.Leaving his wife and daughter at the car, the men walked back to the path thatseparated the car park from the road.

When they looked back over at the field they saw that the object hadnow changed course and was no longer heading towards them but had turned andwas now moving away from them to the South East. It was clear that the objecthad banked as it was now at a sharp angle, giving a clear view of the lights onits underside. The main body of the object appeared to be black in colour, andwas triangular in shape. It was dark but the shape could be made out as itblocked out the stars. Gary noted that unlike a stealth bomber or other knownaircraft, the rear of the object was completely straight. On its undersidethere was a white light at each corner, and in the centre a dimmer red colouredring of light. This ring appeared to be separated into sections. The object wasvery large indeed – Gary says that it was at least half the size of a footballpitch, if not larger.

The object was moving slowly, Gary estimates about 20 mph. There wasnot much traffic on the road, and Gary noted that it was completely silent. Thetwo witnesses continued to watch the object as it glided smoothly over the field.Then as it got close to a cluster of trees on top of the slope which make uppart of Short Wood, it dropped down behind the tree line out of sight.

Both witnesses were amazed at what they had seen, and were certain thatit had not been a conventional aircraft of any kind. Gary has had an interestin UFOs for many years and so realised that the object fitted in withdescriptions of Flying Triangle craft. He was convinced that this is what theyhad seen. Over the meal they excitedly discussed the object. The following dayhe decided to contact the local Express & Star newspaper in the hopethat someone else would also report seeing the UFO.

The newspaper article was printed on the 13th December. Nobody else hasyet claimed to have sighted the object on that evening (at least to Gary’sknowledge), however the newspaper made the connection between it and otherFlying Triangle sightings which have occurred in the Birmingham area overrecent years. It has been suggested that these sightings are all of the sameobject, which has been given the nickname “the Dudley Dorito” as the shape issimilar to that of a Dorito crisp.

‘Dudley Dorito’ UFO re-appears in sky

Tuesday 13th December 2011, 11:00AM GMT.

A mysterious triangular UFO dubbed the ‘Dudley Dorito’ has re-appeared in the region’s skies with the latest sighting reported near to a Midlands beauty spot.

Property worker Gary Nock and his family were on the car park of the Badgers Sett pub, Hagley, when they saw the distinctive object flying overhead.

The 52-year-old said the UFO, a black triangle with white lights at each end, was flying at low altitude from the direction of Birmingham.

He said the object had turned silently in the air and they had eventually lost sight of it as it passed over the Clent Hills.

The sighting occurred at around 6.40pm on Wednesday and Mr Nock immediately looked it up on the internet after returning home. And he said the UFO bore a close resemblance to the “Dudley Dorito” first spotted over the skies of the Black Country a few years ago.

Mr Nock said he, his wife Susan, daughter Claire and her boyfriend Jamie Burgoyne had just arrived at the pub to have a meal.

“We were just getting out of the car when we saw this object overhead. It was very low in the sky and could easily be seen,” he said.

“At first I thought it could have been a jet but no aircraft has those types of lights to my knowledge.

“It banked to the one side and made no sound whatsoever which was also strange. It was so low we lost sight of it over the tree line of the Clent Hills. When we got back Jamie and I looked it up on the internet and saw the stories about the Dudley Dorito and what we saw does bear a resemblance to it.”

Mr Nock said he believed the craft could be an experimental military plane.

“I know about planes but have never seen anything like this.

“It does look a little like a B2 stealth plane but that makes a sound this one did not.It is a mystery.”

It is the latest in a long list of sightings over the Black Country.

The UFO was last seen earlier this year by security officer Glyn Richards while in the back garden of his home in Quarry Bank.

It has also been spotted over Tipton, Brierley Hill and Oldbury.

Sighting Analysis

After meeting with Gary face-to-face to discuss the incident, I amabsolutely convinced that this is a genuine sighting of a Flying Trianglecraft. Gary appears very trustworthy and was absolutely thrilled at what he hadexperienced. He has thought about the sighting logically and compared the shapeof the object to known triangular military aircraft. There are other things heinformed me of which I am not able to disclose but which also make him areliable witness. The fact that there were multiple witnesses should also notbe ignored. I hope to obtain a statement from Jamie soon, which will be addedto this report.

The object that Gary described seeing is a “classic” Flying Trianglecraft. The shape, colour and large size match many other sightings. And thelighting configuration and colours is also the most commonly reported, althoughthere are numerous other configurations also described. It is likely that thereare many different types of FT, in much the same way that we have manydifferent styles of cars. The segmented ring shape of the red light is notalways reported, sometimes just a red light is seen, but there are numerouscases where this exact shape has been described.

As well as the appearance of the object, there are a number of otherreasons why it was unlikely to be a conventional aircraft. Gary says that itwas flying much too close to the ground, between 100-150 feet at most. It wasgliding too slowly to be a jet, and was completely silent. At that altitude anddistance a normal aircraft would certainly have been audible, especially afterdark. It was clearly under control so was not a drifting electronically litballoon, and was much too big to be a remote controlled model.

Although a secret military aircraft cannot be completely put out of thequestion in this particular case, I know of numerous cases which directly linkthese craft with extra-terrestrial beings, including some I have directlyinvestigated. There are also cases where these craft have been seen to performincredible manoeuvres, changing direction instantly, hovering motionless anddisplaying astounding velocity and acceleration. Also it is very unlikely thata secret military aircraft would be flown in full view over a highly populatedarea, this does not make any logical sense.

The newspaper article puts the incident down to another sighting of the“Dudley Dorito”. While it is possible that a single craft is returning to areasof Birmingham on numerous occasions, I find it more likely that these areseparate sightings of different Flying Triangle craft. These objects are seenall around the world, and you can read of many other cases featuring similarobjects outside of Birmingham. It should also be noted that the article statesthat the object flew over the heads of the witnesses, which is incorrect. Itinitially looked as though it would but then changed course and moved away fromtheir location. Perhaps its occupants were aware they were being observed, ormaybe decided that the brightly lit pub would expose them too much. We can onlyspeculate as to why the craft was in the area in the first place.

The FT moved away in the direction of Bromsgrove, so it is certainlypossible that there were other witnesses who have yet to come forward. If youhave any further information about this incident, or feel that you may havealso seen the object, please get in touch.

2010 - 21/06/2011 - Bartley Green, Birmingham - Various UFO Sightings

This report covers three UFO sightings over Bartley Green all experienced by the same witness, a lady named Sinead. She got in touch with me after coming across my contact details on the UK UFO Sightings website.

2010 - Black Disc UFO Sighting

It was a clear and sunny day back in 2010. Sinead was sitting at the bedroom window of her house in Bartley Green and having a cigarette. There is a nice view of the surrounding area from the window so she was just looking out at the clear blue sky. There were no planes or helicopters visible, just a few birds flying between the gardens.

Her cat came into the bedroom and approached her ankles. Sinead bent down and stroked her for about 5 seconds. When she looked back up she noticed there was now an object hovering in the sky. She blinked and squinted to make sure she wasn’t seeing things but the object remained visible. At first it looked like a thick black line, about four metres in length. It didn’t look like it was very far away, but the exact distance was hard to accurately judge. It was completely stationary, which made it look very un-natural.

She continued to watch the object. After about 40 seconds it began to tilt forward. At this point it became clear that it was not cigar shaped but was a flattened disc. It continued to tilt on its axis for a number of seconds then suddenly halted again. It remained in that position for about 30 seconds. Then it began to slowly move away, heading off into the distance. This continued until it was just a spec and vanished from sight.

Sinead was amazed at what she had just witnessed. She sat at the window ledge for about half an hour trying to come to terms with it. She found it very creepy, the way in which it had just suddenly appeared there and then sat there completely still and silent.

She looked around on the internet to try and find something which looked similar to what she had seen. The best match she found was in the video where the two jets chase down a UFO over the M5 motorway. This video is widely regarded to be a hoax, but the object shown in it looked the same as what she had seen.

This is an intriguing sighting. I find it very interesting that the object suddenly appeared within the space of 5 seconds. This supports the idea that it was something very unusual, as it was a clear day so surely Sinead would have seen the object move up to that position. If it had retained the appearance of a thick black line and had not tilted I would have suggested that it was a solar airship. These are long black cylindrical inflatables that lift up into the air when the air inside them heats up in the sun. It was a bright and clear day so this would be ideal weather conditions to launch one of these. However according to the witness the object was disc shaped and only appeared as a line initially when viewed directly from the side.

There is the possibility that it was some kind of inflatable or blimp which had become un-tethered. However if it was, more random drifting movements would have been expected rather than the structured manoeuvres that the object seemed to perform. As Sinead did not see the object appear out of nowhere, suddenly vanish or move at a very fast speed this cannot be put out of the question, but it seems a little unlikely.

Some of the aspects of this sighting are very interesting and suggest that the object may have been something out of the ordinary, perhaps this was a daylight sighting of a genuine disc-shaped craft.

2010 - Orange Orbs Sighting

Later in 2010 Sinead had a sighting of a number of glowing orange orbs. Once again she was at her house. It was evening time when she spotted the orbs out of the window. First of all she spotted five of them that were in a perfect pentagon shape. Each orb was glowing a fiery orange and was constantly bright. They appeared to be in quite close proximity to one another. The orbs travelled across the sky on a straight path. Further behind the initial 5, Sinead spotted a further 2 orbs. These seemed to be travelling faster than the initial ones, and slowly but surely caught them up and overtook them.

Sinead openly admits that Chinese lanterns could have been the explanation for the orbs. However she says that they appeared strange to her and unlike lanterns she had seen on other occasions. They seemed to be floating very closely to one another, formed a perfect shape in the sky, did not flicker at all and did not appear to rise in altitude throughout the sighting. I would agree that some of these observations appear a little strange, however I still feel that lanterns is the most likely explanation. They often seem to form shapes in the sky or move in a structured manner, but this can be due to them being caught in the same air current so they all travel in the same direction at the same speed. The two orbs that caught up the others could have been in a different air current alongside the main group, or could have been burning hotter providing them with more propulsion.

21/06/2011 – Silver Sphere Sighting

On 21st June 2011 Sinead and her friend were once again smoking at the bedroom window and looking out over Bartley Green. It was a clear and sunny day. They noticed three very large planes flying extremely low. They reminded Sinead of B2 bombers from the war. However she is not interested in aircraft so has no idea of the exact model. It is possible that they were on their way to an airshow.

As one of the planes flew past the clock tower in Selly Oak at low altitude, they suddenly noticed a small spherical object emerge from a nearby cloud. It looked white in colour at first, which could have been down to light reflection, but then stopped moving and turned a metallic silver colour. The sun was reflecting very brightly off one side of the object.

The sphere remained stationary for about 30 seconds. Then suddenly it disappeared. This was followed by two flashes of light, one where the sphere had been and the second a little further across the sky. The girls discussed what they had just witnessed. About 3 minutes later, a thin cylindrical contrail appeared in the sky. The starting point for this contrail was where the sphere had initially been situated.

Silver spheres are one of the more commonly reported UFO types. They are generally small in size and are probably un-manned monitoring devices. This could well have been one of these objects. Obviously sometimes silver coloured balloons can be the explanation. However there are some unusual aspects to this sighting. The object appeared to be under control; it moved out of the cloud and then abruptly came to a halt. It then remained in this position until suddenly vanishing. Surely if it was a balloon it would have not only drifted but would have remained visible. Then again perhaps it was still there but was reflecting the light in such a way that it was no longer visible from the girl’s location. Perhaps the flashes of white light were the object briefly catching the sunlight and brightly reflecting, this is a possibility worth considering.

The fact that there was a contrail several minutes later is interesting but I feel probably not to do with the object in any way. ET craft are very rarely reported as leaving contrails in the sky, the very presence of one means that fuel has been used up, which tends to support a human-made explanation.

Conclusion

Sinead has had some interesting sightings over the two years. While all of them have the possibility of being something mundane, the black coloured disc and silver sphere sightings both have a number of aspects which are hard to put down to an everyday explanation. I hope that she continues to stay in touch and keep me informed of any further sightings she has, and if so this report may be updated going forward.

03/06/2011 - Droitwich - UFO Sighting & Photograph

In June 2011 I was contacted by a gentleman who had recently witnessed a UFO from the back garden of his house. He asked his daughter to take a photograph of the object. This report covers the sighting in depth and also contains analysis of the photograph and my thoughts on it.

Sighting Details

It was 6.21 pm on the evening of 3rd June 2011. Richard Haller and his wife were lying down on the edge of his daughter’s trampoline in the back garden of their house on Miller Street, Droitwich. His daughter was next to them using the trampoline. It was a sunny evening and they were staring up at the clear blue sky.

Suddenly Richard noticed an object at high altitude travelling slowly across the sky to his left in a Westerly direction. It appeared to be moving at quite a slow speed. To the naked eye it just looked like a grey coloured dot. It was hard to tell exactly how high the object was or its actual size, but it was at least 1000 feet up.

Richard pointed out the object to his wife and daughter. He then asked his daughter to get her Lumix FZ38 camera. She returned with it to the garden and managed to take two photographs before the object moved out of sight behind a nearby tree. As it moved it seemed to change in brightness, which Richard assumes was down to sunlight reflecting off its surface.

When they checked the photos on playback mode they could not see the object on one of the photos, but were pleased to see that they had captured it on the other. When they zoomed in on it they were quite shocked to see that it was a rounded triangular shape and did not resemble a conventional aircraft. It either had lights on it or was reflecting the sunlight. Later Richard scanned it into the computer to have a better look at what had been captured.

In the following weeks they showed the photograph to various family members, who all agreed that it was certainly unidentified and should be investigated.

Photographic Analysis

Here is the original photograph with the UFO circled, in which the apparent high altitude of the object can be seen:

On this zoomed view of the object the rough shape of it can be made out. It appears to be made up of three rounded segments in a roughly triangular shape. It appears to be either pinkish or white in colouration, although this could well be due to the sunlight reflecting off its surface:

Conclusions

After assessing the case details and the photographic evidence I feel that the object seen was probably a clump of balloons drifting across the early evening sky. From the photograph it can be seen that the object appears to have various curves across its surface, and could well be a number of smaller curved objects crowded together. The object did not perform any manoeuvres which would indicate it was under intelligent control, and was not moving particularly fast so could easily have been drifting in an air current.

The object looks very similar in appearance to the object(s) seen in the skies over Manhattan back in 2010. This incident was widely put down to a launch of balloons, and I see no reason why this case should be any different. Below is a photograph of the Manhattan UFO for comparison:

I cannot say 100% that the object Richard's daughter photographed was a group of balloons. There is still the possibility that it was something more unusual, but I feel that balloons are the most likely explanation for what was witnessed.

27/05/2011 - Wiltshire - Orange Triangular UFOs Sighting

Sighting Details

At about 11pm on 27th May 2011, Steve Watts witnessed something unusual in the sky from his location in Wiltshire. It was a pleasant dry evening. To the South of him a number of miles away he saw what appeared to be a triangular shaped object which was glowing a fiery yellow colour. It appeared to be about 20 feet across and moving quite fast across the sky. As he watched he then noticed two other identical objects. The three objects seemed to slowly move into a triangular formation.

Steve continued to watch for half an hour during which further objects appeared and travelled in the same direction as the initial objects. He was amazed at what he was witnessing, but put the sighting down to secret military aircraft rather than ET craft.

Sighting Analysis

After reading the details provided by the witness I am convinced that what was experienced here was the launch of multiple triangular-shaped Chinese lanterns. Lanterns are usually cylindrical in shape and are seen as orbs of glowing amber coloured light at a distance. However they can be purchased in other shapes including triangles, and sometimes the light within them glows very intensely making them appear yellow in colour, or even white. Due to the distance the objects were observed it would have been hard to accurately predict their size or speed, so it is possible they were much smaller than they appeared.

The fact that this sighting lasted for half an hour, over which many objects were seen all travelling in the same direction, fits in with it being a launch of lanterns from a celebration somewhere. Lanterns often appear to form shapes in the sky as they drift around in air currents. I am quite confident that this was the cause behind the glowing objects seen, whether or not the source of the lanterns is ever known.

The witness has not got back in touch so the exact location this incident took place is currently unknown.

12/05/2011 - Perth - Glowing UFO Sighting

Sighting Details

On the evening of 12th May 2011 Alexander was on the M11 bus with his girlfriend. It was a dark and cloudy evening, and quite cold. He is not aware of the exact time, he thinks it was around 9pm. The bus was on Leonard Road and just arriving at Perth Bus Station. He looked out of the window on the left side of the bus to the East.

In the distance he noticed a bright white light in the sky. The light was travelling at a fast pace across the sky, heading in the same direction the bus was moving in. It appeared to be at high altitude.

Alexander pointed the light out to his girlfriend, but not to the other passengers on the bus. The bus briefly pulled into Perth bus station, and while it was there Alexander watched the light continuing on a straight level course. It went out of sight just as the bus began to leave the station. He wondered what the object could have been.

Sighting Analysis

When Alexander initially spotted the object it reminded him of a comet or satellite. However I do not feel that either of these explanations is adequate. As it was a cloudy night, this means that the object must have been in the atmosphere and below the level of the clouds. An object up in space would not have been seen. It seemed too bright to be a satellite, and if it was a comet passing the Earth this would have been widely known about. It was moving too slowly to be a meteorite, these only last a second as they cross the night sky.

Sometimes helicopters or planes with their landing lights on can look like a singular extremely bright light at a distance. The object did not perform any manoeuvres which would suggest it wasn’t a conventional aircraft, so this could possibly be an explanation for what was seen. However as with many other sightings of glowing lights after dark, it is hard to say for certain what was witnessed. Perhaps it was an ET craft but there is nothing really to suggest that it was, it is more likely to have been something man made.

Most UFO sightings reported to BUFOG are of objects seen in the air by witnesses with their feet firmly on the ground. However occasionally we receive details of sightings which have taken place from on board aeroplane flights. It makes perfect sense that if UFOs are flying around our airspace they will sometimes be observed by pilots and passengers.

This report covers an interesting sighting that took place over the French Alps in May 2011. It was reported to me via a member of BUFOG (you know who you are), after their friend related the story to them. Many thanks to them for finding out the majority of the information seen within this report.

Sighting Details

It was 7am on the morning of 10th May 2011. The witness, who we shall call Matthew for the purpose of this report, was on board flight BHX 525. The aircraft had set out from Birmingham International airport an hour earlier, and was now flying over the French Alps. It was a very clear sunny day, with only light cloud visible.

Matthew was looking out of the aircraft window at the mountains below. Suddenly he saw a strange object ascending from below off to the left of the plane. The main body of the object was cigar shaped and white in colour. At the back it had what appeared to be a low tail and short fin-like wings sticking out. There was a black smoke vapour trail coming from the back of the object. It appeared to be an unusual craft of some kind.

The main fuselage of the craft seemed to be about 30 feet in length and 3-6 feet wide. It was about 500-1000 metres away from the plane, and was rising fast at an extremely rapid speed. As it got close to the plane, the UFO suddenly veered off to the left seemingly to avoid a collision. After about 20 seconds it was lost from sight due to the view from the window.

The witness is not aware if anyone else on the plane saw the strange craft. Nobody else seemed to react to it or discuss it afterwards so he assumes not. It is unknown whether the craft was picked up on radar.

Sighting Analysis

The UFO in this sighting was clearly a controlled craft of some kind. I feel that the most likely explanation for what was seen was some kind of un-manned military drone which was being test flown in the area. The description of the object does fit in with it being one of these pilotless craft. Most military drones are white in colour, as the witness describes. They also tend to have short wings which are often positioned closer to the rear of the craft. Below are a couple of photographs of military drones for comparison:

The witness has drawn short wings and a taller tail right at the rear of the craft, but this could have perhaps been an optical illusion caused by the angle the craft was being viewed from. Also the fact there was a vapour trail coming from it point towards it being man-made rather than extraterrestrial. It was seemingly moving at a fast speed, but did not perform any manoeuvres which would suggest it was something more unusual.

The fact that there was what appeared to be black smoke pouring from the rear of the craft suggests that it was perhaps having engine difficulties. Usually aircraft contrails are of course white in colour.

At present this is all that is known about the incident, but I hope to speak to the witness directly in due course as well as find out further details about the flight.

16/04/2011 - Cardiff - Orange Orbs Sighting

Sighting Details

It was 11.15pm on 16th April 2011. Marc and his girlfriend Karen (name changed for privacy reasons) were about to go to bed at Marc’s house on Splott Road, Cardiff. Marc decided to take one last glance out of the first floor open bedroom window to the North West.

It was a clear still night with the moon and stars visible. It was now that he noticed an orange glowing orb of light moving towards the South. It seemed to be about 300 feet high and about 2 miles away from his position, though this was hard to judge as there was no point of reference.

Marc called Karen over to the window and they both watched the object for about two minutes. It moved towards the South before seeming to gradually turn and head off in a South Westerly direction. During this time it slowly increased in altitude from 300 to about 1000 feet. It then seemed to fade and disappear. They continued to watch and a second object appeared. This was followed by three more identical objects. Each moved on the same course and at the same speed, and vanished like the first had. The couple were excited at what they were witnessing. After about 15 minutes no more objects appeared and they decided to head to sleep.

Sighting Analysis

This incident was almost certainly a sighting of a number of Chinese lanterns that had been launched from a nearby celebration. All the aspects of the sighting fit in with this explanation, from the appearance, the movement pattern, the way in which the objects slowly increased in altitude, and the way in which they seemed to fade and vanish after a while. Lanterns tend to be launched in multiple and will follow the same course if caught in air currents. They slowly rise as they drift across the sky due to the hot air inside them. Eventually they burn out which makes them look like they have vanished without trace. While I cannot be absolutely sure that this was the cause of the lights seen, and Marc says that he is familiar with lanterns but these objects looked different, I still feel this is the most probable explanation.

Out of interest, Marc did mention that he has had some other quite different UFO sightings in addition to this one. If he decides to share these with me they will be added to this report in separate sections.

23/03/2011 - Wexford, Ireland - Flash Of Light Incident

In late March 2011, Mark Murphy from Wexford in Ireland had a sighting of a strange flash of light in the night sky. He is unsure whether this flash was UFO related or not, but decided to get in touch with me via Richard Halls website to report it anyway.

Incident Details

It was 9.38pm on 23rd March 2011. Mark was walking between his house and his studio. It was a very clear night with good visibility and the stars fully visible. The moon was not in sight at the time. He suddenly noticed something out of the corner of his eye up in the sky. He quickly looked and noticed a strange oval shaped flash of white light. It only lasted a split second but was quite unlike anything he had seen before. Mark was puzzled by what he had seen, but did not tell anyone else about the incident.

Incident Analysis

Mark was certain that the flash he saw was not a meteorite, he sees these all the time as where he lives is quite remote. He has also seen the international space station on numerous occasions and knows how to recognise it. There is no light pollution. He lives out on farmland 15 miles to the nearest town, so the flash could not have been caused by a searchlight or laser light from a night club. It was a clear night sky so the flash could not have been caused by sheet lightning. If it was a helicopter or aircraft at high altitude then it would have continued to be visible, not just flashed for a brief moment.

The only other suggestions I have that may explain the flash would be either a piece of space debris briefly caught in the sun’s rays, or unusual atmospheric light phenomenon. However neither of these suggestions really explain what was seen to a sufficient level, I cannot say for certain what caused the flash. We cannot rule out the possibility that it was caused by a UFO, however there is nothing really that suggests that it was.

08/02/2011 - Saint Helens - Black Cigar UFO Photograph

On the afternoon of 8th February 2011 Leona (name changed for privacy reasons) decided to head out into Saint Helens where she lives to take some photographs. She has a pen pal who lives abroad, and wanted to give her an idea of where she lives. She went out on her mountain bike, and took some photos using her Samsung 3.2 Mega Pixel Fully Automatic camera. The photos included one at Victoria Park which she took at 1.20pm. It was a sunny day, still with patchy cloud.

Soon after taking the photo at the park, Leona noticed a very strange looking man. He was in the bushes and appeared to be looking for something on the ground. He was very tall, about 7 feet in height. He looked quite old and had long grey hair in a pony tail and a pointed grey beard. He was dressed in very unusual clothes – tight fitting white lycra top and leggings, silver high heeled boots, a leather tunic and long green velvety cape. He was also wearing a large silver medallion around his neck and some wrap around sunglasses. He was holding a metallic walking stick. Leona thought to herself “Wow far out!” as she passed him.

Leona returned home and after lunch decided to check the photographs she had taken on her computer. When she got to the photo taken in Victoria Park she was so shocked she almost fell off her chair! Below is the photograph that she was confronted by:

The photo was taken in the middle of Victoria Park facing towards Bishop Road. As you can see there is what appears to be a large black cigar-shaped object in the sky above the park. Leona wondered if the strange man she had seen was somehow connected and could even have been an ET. She phoned her father and sent him the photo. He had a look at it and two hours later got back to her, telling her that it appeared to be a solid object rather than a camera glitch, and that she should send it off for further analysis.

The photograph is certainly unusual. It appears to be an object of some kind rather than just a camera anomaly as its surface appears curved with light and shadow. However it is not casting any shadow on the ground - it is very unlikely that the object would have appeared on digital camera but not been seen with the naked eye or cast a shadow. Sometimes UFOs can be invisible and show up on infra red, but you would expect any solid object picked up by a digital camera to be visible when not looking through the camera as well.

It is interesting to note that the base of the object narrowly misses the tops of the tree line right across the photo. This is more than likely just a coincidence, rather than being proof that the object is above the trees and avoiding them on purpose.

The blurred edges suggest that it is a small object falling past the camera lens at the time of taking the photo, perhaps a black seed pod of some kind. It is out of focus because the camera is focusing on the park. I feel this is the most probable explanation for the photograph. The unusual man seen nearby was probably just eccentric rather than being an extraterrestrial visitor. If anyone can shed more light on this individual (or indeed if you actually are him) please get in touch.

Sighting Details

On the evening of 28th January 2011, Andrew Crossley was out walking his dog in his home town of Barrowford. It was a clear and still night but was very cold. The stars and moon were fully visible. It was 9.25pm and he had just reached the junction between Bedford Street and Richmond Street. He turned around to momentarily glance behind him, and was surprised to see two bright orange glowing orbs of light in the sky. It was hard to judge how high they were but did not appear to be at low altitude. It was also too hard to tell exactly how far away and therefore how large they were.

The objects appeared to be following alongside one another, at most 50 yards apart. They were travelling in a South Westerly direction. Andrew thought that they may be Chinese lanterns, however unlike lanterns he had seen on previous occasions they did not appear to be flickering. They travelled over the roofs of the houses and then out over fields on the outskirts of the town.

Andrew watched the objects for 2-3 minutes. He was both confused and mesmerised by the objects. They were travelling towards Pendle Hill when suddenly they appeared to split and head off in different directions extremely fast. They were only visible for several seconds before they went out of sight. The speed which they moved at seemed much too fast for the objects to have been lanterns, and they looked like they were under direct control.

Sighting Analysis

Many aspects of this sighting do suggest that the objects were probably Chinese lanterns. These appear as round orange orbs of light at a distance just as the witness describes. Although the do often noticeably flicker in brightness, sometimes they can appear constantly bright. The fact that the objects were both moving across the sky on a straight course one after the other fits in with lanterns caught in an air current.

The way in which the objects headed off in different directions suddenly and apparently at very fast speed is an interesting aspect of this case, and could suggest that they were something much more unusual. However it is possible for lanterns to get caught in two different air currents and veer off in different directions. As the witness could not tell how far away they were, he had no way of knowing exactly how fast they were moving. Perhaps they were a lot closer and moving much slower than they appeared to be. There is even a chance that they went out which could have given the illusion that they shot away at speed. Considering the evidence available I feel that the most likely explanation for this sighting was Chinese lanterns, although this is not a definite.

11/01/2011 - Camperdown - Red Orbs Sighting

Sighting Details

At 10.32pm on Tuesday 11th January 2011, Ken Eagleton was out walking his dog in Camperdwn where he lives. It was a relatively clear evening with light cloud between which the stars could be seen, and a light breeze. Ken was on a lane just off Front Street, the main road through Camperdown. As he walked along the lane, he turned to look at his dog. It was now that he noticed a glowing orb of light in the sky to the South East East.

The light was red in colour and was pulsing continuously very fast which made it look like it was shimmering. It had what appeared to be a small white light at the base of it. The orb was between 500-1000 feet high. It was hard to judge how big it was. It appeared to be within 1-3 miles of his position.

Ken was intrigued by the light as it did not look like a helicopter and was completely silent. The roads were quiet due to the time, and Ken is sure he would have heard noise coming from it if it was a helicopter or plane. The light was travelling to the North at quite a fast speed. He got out his camera phone and tried to record some footage of the orb but it would not pick it up against the dark sky.

Ken continued to watch the light as it moved across the sky from his right to his left, slowly gaining in altitude as it did. After about 15-20 seconds he caught sight of a second red orb identical to the first, and on the same trajectory at the same speed.

About 10-15 seconds later the first orb suddenly began to slow down until it completely stopped in the air. The second orb continued on the same course and began to approach the first. About 10 seconds later when it had got to about 100 feet from the first orb, it too began to slow down and came to a halt. Both orbs remained completely stationary for a couple of seconds. Then the first orb turned to the North East and began climbing in altitude much faster than it had been doing previously. Two seconds later the second orb performed the same turning manoeuvre and began to also ascend, apparently following after the first orb.

Before long both orbs vanished into some light cloud. Ken continued to watch the cloud which they had disappeared into for several minutes but they did not reappear. He decided to continue his walk home. He felt astonished at what he had just witnessed and decided to text three friends and call a fourth.

Sighting Analysis

This is an interesting sighting, primarily because of the seemingly controlled manoeuvres the objects were seen to perform. As Ken points out, it is very unlikely the objects were helicopters as he would have heard the noise from them. They could not have been planes as they both slowed down and halted for a time.

Quite often orbs of light seen in the night sky turn out to be Chinese lanterns or LED balloons. The objects were the wrong colour for lanterns, which tend to be a fiery orange colour or sometimes appear yellow/white. Also the orbs were pulsing extremely fast and regularly, lanterns tend to flicker intermittently due to the flame inside of them. It is possible that the objects were two red and white LED balloons. This seems more probable than lanterns, as they could have been set to pulse fast. The gradual increase in altitude initially seen fits in with the objects being either lanterns, which rise due to the heated air inside them, or helium-filled LED balloons.

However the manoeuvres the orbs were then seen to perform do seem very controlled, possibly too controlled to have been caused by air currents. The first orb appeared to slow down and halt so that the second one could catch up with it. While the second was approaching it, it remained completely stationary in the sky. This is uncharacteristic of a lantern or inflatable, as these would still be seen to slowly increase in altitude and rise straight upwards. When the second orb was close enough they then made a sudden turn in direction and also started to rise at a much steeper angle than they had been previously. Again this seems like a controlled manoeuvre.

I can’t really say what the objects were in this case. On the one hand they showed some characteristics of lanterns, or more likely LED balloons. On the other hand they did seem to be moving with purpose as if under control. I guess it boils down to what you want to believe from the evidence that exists.

Winter 2010 - Tyneside - Orange Orbs Sighting

Most modern sightings of orange orbs seen in the sky after dark tend to be explainable by Chinese lanterns. However occasionally there are aspects to these sightings which cannot be explained so easily. This is one such sighting.

Sighting Details

It was 6pm on an evening in the winter of 2010. It was a clear and mild evening for the time of year, and there was a South Westerly wind blowing about 4 mph. Stephen Notti was in his house on Hudleston, Cullercoats Bay, North Tyneside. He was sitting in the living room watching TV. The front window blinds were open, offering a view to the South.

Suddenly he noticed through the window an orange orb of light in the sky, which had seemingly just appeared from nowhere. He immediately stopped watching TV and stared at the object. It appeared to be pulsing in brightness, and Stephen estimates it was twice the size of a jumbo jet. As he watched it seemed to descend directly downwards at quite a fast speed.

Then he noticed a second similar object appear and once again descend. Both objects continued to descend until they were about 600 feet off the ground. They then briefly halted. Next one of them went to the left, where as the other moved to the right, almost like they were searching for something. They then moved back together again. Next one of the orbs started moving to the East towards the sea, and a second later the other orb followed.

Stephen continued to watch the lights. They moved about half a mile out to sea then briefly stopped. They then once again switched course and headed in a Southerly direction until out of sight. In total he had watched the objects for about 20 seconds.

Sighting Analysis

The appearance of the objects in this sighting certainly fits in with them being Chinese lanterns. These appear as orange glowing orbs at a distance, and often appear to pulse/flicker in brightness due to the lit flame inside them. It is hard to accurately estimate their size, and sometimes the bright glow coming from them can make them appear to be much bigger and more distant than they in fact are.

That said I find the movement pattern of the objects in this sighting very interesting. Lanterns tend to either drift randomly and slowly rise when there is no wind, or if there is wind they tend to float on a straight course across the sky, again slowly ascending due to the heated air inside. However it appears that in this case both objects initially descended, something lanterns only tend to do when they are going out. Also they both seemed to appear from nowhere. It was a clear night so surely Stephen would have seen them both drift into view not suddenly appear?

We must also take into account that once the objects had descended one headed one way and one the other. Stephen says that there was a South Westerly wind blowing, so it would be expected that both objects would have drifted in this direction, yet neither appeared to. Throughout the sighting they appeared to be following their own defined paths rather than just drifting in the wind, and it is for this reason that they may have been something other than lanterns.

Interesting that the movements are, it cannot be denied that the appearance of the objects fits with lanterns. Therefore this cannot be completely ruled out. Perhaps at higher altitude the wind was blowing in different directions causing the objects to be buffeted around and seem to perform intelligent manoeuvres. So it is hard to say for definite exactly what the objects were, there is arguments both for and against the lanterns explanation. At the end of the day it’s down to what you feel is the most probable.

Summer 1975 to December 2010 - Symes Family UFO Sightings

In March 2011 Julie Symes got in touch with me via Richard Hall’s website to let me know the details of an interesting sighting that she and her son Geraint had between 1999 and 2001. In speaking with her via E-Mail it became apparent that the family have had had several other UFO sightings as well. This report covers each of these sightings in detail.

Summer 1975 – Stackpole Quay – White Orb Sighting

In the summer of 1975 Julie’s husband Martyn (who was 21 at the time) and his friend Mark were on holiday near Stackpole Quay, Wales. They were camping near to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. In the evening they went out to a local pub for a meal, about half a mile from where they had pitched the tent. It was a pleasant and still evening. On the way back they were walking past some fields when they noticed a white orb of light hovering over a field off to their right. It was quite dark by this time so the light stood out.

The orb appeared to be about the size of a football. It was glowing but not bright enough to light up the surroundings. It appeared to be about 3 feet off the ground and hovering over the hedge at the far side of the field. It was completely stationary when they first noticed it. It was odd but they decided not to attempt to approach it. They began walking again and noticed that the orb was now following them. When they stopped it stopped, when they moved it also moved! They tried running, and stopping suddenly. But the orb kept pace with them whatever they did! It always did this instantaneously.

Martyn and Mark stared at the object for 5 minutes trying to work out what it was. After this time they became nervous of the object and so ran back to the tent without looking at it again. Safely back in the tent they then both discussed what they had seen. In the years following this sighting, Martyn apparently learned that there had been other similar sightings in the area.

This is a fascinating sighting due to the fact the object appeared to be mimicking the witnesses movements. They are certain that it was actually moving and not just a distant light which was stationary. It was in land so could not have been a ships light out to sea. The instant movements it performed, combined with the fact that it was right over a hedge means it cannot have been someone playing with a torch trying to frighten the men. Martyn says that if it was a torch it would have cast light and shadows on the ground but there was nothing like this. It appeared to be a glowing sphere or object which was under intelligent control and for whatever reason was copying the movements of the witnesses.

July 1995 – Sphere/Saucer UFO Sighting

On an evening in July 1995, the family were on their way home from Alton Towers theme park. It was about 6pm, and the weather was dry but cloudy. The family were on holiday and staying at a nearby caravan park. Unfortunately Julie cannot remember the exact name and location of this park. Martyn was driving, Julie was in the passenger seat and Geraint, who was 8 years old at the time, was on the back seat behind Julie. Geraint's sister was sat behind Martyn.

As the car approached the entrance of the caravan park, Julie and Geraint spotted something strange out of the car windows. There was a metallic object hovering just behind some nearby fir trees. It seemed to be rotating and was about 10-12 feet in diameter. Looking back at the incident, Julie and Geraint remember the shape of the object differently. Geraint remembers seeing a chrome coloured sphere. Julie remembers it being more saucer shaped with a raised dome in the middle. The object was only visible for a moment before it descended downwards and was lost from sight behind the trees.

Discrepancies can sometimes occur with multiple witness sightings, so the fact the two witnesses remembered the object being a different shape is not really an issue. The object appeared too large to have been an inflatable of some kind, and it certainly did not appear to be any kind of conventional aircraft.

July/August 1999-2001 – Silver Sphere Sighting

It was mid afternoon on a bright sunny day in either late July or early August. The sky was mostly clear with only sporadic white clouds. There was a breeze blowing. Geraint, who between 12-14 years old at the time, was just setting off on his bike from home on Goitre Coed Road, Quakers Yard Treharris to travel round a friend’s house. Julie was standing on the front doorstep of the house telling him to watch out for traffic. The house has steps leading up to the front door, so Geraint was looking up at her. It was then that he noticed an object hovering in the sky over the house. He told his mother to look and she stepped outside to see what he was looking at.

There about 100 feet high above them was a perfectly spherical silver ball. The sunlight was reflecting off its surface. The object was about the size of a large football. It was moving in a Westerly direction at a slow and steady speed. Julie noted that it appeared very controlled; it was not wobbling or changing speed at all as it went. They were both fascinated and puzzled by it, but not frightened. They agreed that it did not look like a balloon as it was a windy day but it was not bobbing around in the air. Julie said to Geraint “Smile, you’re on alien camera!” She says that for some reason she felt irritated that it was spying on them, but felt no danger from it. She did not think to run and get her camera; she was too busy watching the object.

They both watched the sphere for several minutes until it had vanished from sight to the West of them.

A short while later Julie rang the MOD and left a message on their answer phone reporting the object. She felt that it was ET in origin and that it should be logged. She never had a reply from them. Out of interest, she does mention that three days later a fast fighter jet flew at low altitude over the house heading to the South. This was the only time this had ever happened, before or since.

This is an interesting sighting due to the appearance and movement of the object. Football-sized silver spheres are one of the more commonly reported types of UFO. Obviously some of these sightings will turn out to be nothing more than silver coloured balloons. However this does not appear to have been a balloon. It was a breezy day and ye the object was able to travel on a straight and level path for several minutes without changing speed or altitude. This sounds far too controlled to have been a balloon given the weather conditions at the time. The object had no visible means of propulsion or lift, and was also completely silent, so I find it unlikely that it was a radio controlled model or military drone. Perhaps the sphere really was observing them, or perhaps it was just passing by when they happened to catch sight of it, we are unlikely to ever know for sure.

December 2010 – Glowing Silver Sphere Sighting

It was 3pm on an afternoon in December 2010. Geraint was out driving on the A472 south of Quakers Yard with his girlfriend. It was a bright but cloudy day. As they approached an island, the couple suddenly noticed a glowing silver coloured spherical object in the sky to the North West. The object was clearly lower than the cloud layer and emitting light. They pulled off to the side of the road and got out of the car to continue watching the object.

The witnesses watched the UFO for about 10 minutes. It remained stationary for a time, then slowly began to ascend. It then stopped moving and once more remained still. They watched it for a while longer before deciding to continue on their way as it was quite a cold day. It is unknown how long it remained in the area for.

Again this is an interesting sighting. It seems unlikely that the object was a silver coloured balloon. The object seemed to be emitting light. As it was a cloudy day it is unlikely that this was caused by sunlight reflecting off the object, unless there was a break in the clouds. However the movement that the object performed seems too controlled for it to have been a balloon. It hovered completely still for a number of minutes, a balloon would surely have drifted in this amount of time. It is unlikely the object was a helicopter, even at a distance it is possible to make out the rough shape. We cannot rule out a strange remote controlled model in this instance, but this explanation sounds quite unlikely.

I have investigated other cases of brightly glowing silver spheres. A recent case that comes to mind is the stunning multiple witness Blackmill sighting of July 1991. To go to this report click here.

Conclusion

The Symes family have had a number of very interesting UFO sightings, some of which displayed clearly controlled manoeuvres. They appear to have just been in the right place at the right time, I do not feel that the evidence currently points towards direct interaction from these objects. Hopefully they will keep in touch in case of any future sightings they may have.

Sighting Details

At 1.34am on 30th November 2010, Sam Barns was in his bedroom, and looked out of the window. It was a very clear night with no clouds and the stars fully visible. To the North East he suddenly caught sight of a spherical orange coloured object with what looked like 12-13 small yellow and green lights near its centre.

He called his wife and children to also come and see the object. They watched as it moved in a zig-zag pattern across the sky. Sam estimates it was travelling between 100-200 mph. After about 45 seconds the object suddenly vanished.

Sighting Analysis

Unfortunately Sam did not wish to be contacted back by BUFOG so we have no additional information on this sighting, we do not even know where it took place. Orange spheres of light seen after dark can usually be explained by Chinese lanterns. However I find the yellow and green lights that Sam mentions very interesting, usually lanterns appear just as a fiery amber colour.

Also the zig-zagging manoeuvres that it was performing sound unusual, usually lanterns tend to drift on a straight course if caught in an air current or slowly rise if not. However perhaps it was caught in different currents travelling in different directions. The sudden disappearance of the object could have been caused by it burning out.

Without more information it is hard to say exactly what the object was, but an unusual Chinese lantern of some kind is the most likely explanation.

Sighting Details

At 6.30am early in the morning of 27th November 2010, Julian Andreano and his girlfriend Michelle were about to get some sleep after staying up most of the night watching DVDs at Julian’s house on Renfrew Close, Wordsley. It was still dark, and just before getting into bed, Julian pulled back the blind on the bedroom window to peer outside. He looked out over the back garden of the house. It was a clear but cold morning with frost on the ground, and the moon was visible in the sky.

Suddenly Julian noticed a light enter his view from the window to the left. He looked and saw what appeared to be a spherical shaped object with flames running through it. The object was about 40 feet in the air and was about 50 feet from his location. It was moving on a straight level course at about 20-30 mph, heading in an Easterly direction.

Julian called Michelle to come and have a look at the object. She walked across the room and looked out. By this time Julian had been watching it for about 10 seconds. Michelle just about caught sight of the object when suddenly it massively increased in acceleration and shot away, increasing in altitude as it went. Julian estimates it moved at over 500 mph. Within 8 seconds it was a dot on the horizon and vanished out of sight.

The couple discussed what they had just seen. Julian felt privileged and excited to have seen such a thing. He felt that it was definitely something out of this world. Later in the morning he spoke of the sighting with his parents, who believed him and were as intrigued by it as he was.

Sighting Analysis

This is a very interesting sighting due to the manoeuvres displayed by the object. Usually sightings of orange or fiery orbs of light can be put down to Chinese lanterns. However the object seen in this case does not appear to have been a lantern due to the massive increase in speed that it suddenly performed. Even if it was caught in a strong gust of wind it would not have moved at the speed described by the witnesses. It also appeared to be quite close to the witnesses’ location, if it was a lantern this would have been quite obvious. The time the object was seen at also suggests it wasn’t a lantern. It is possible that one could be launched at this time of course, but usually lanterns would be launched from celebrations either late evening or in the early hours of the morning, not just before sunrise.

As it was moving quite slow at the start of the sighting it cannot have been a meteorite. It was clearly not a conventional aircraft or helicopter. It is very unlikely to have been an earth light, as these do not appear over populated areas.

Could the object have been a genuine advanced craft of some kind, perhaps an unmanned scouting craft? I feel that this is a possibility that must be considered in this case, due to the points mentioned above. Perhaps the flames seen were some kind of energy field around it, or perhaps it was actually burning hot. But there is still the chance that it was a lantern and that it appeared to be moving much faster than it in reality was. We will probably never know for certain, and due to the time of morning the sighting occurred at it is unlikely there were many, if any, other witnesses to it.

Sighting Details

At 3.42pm on the afternoon of 15th November 2010, Mark Cutler was getting ready to go on a walk with his partner and daughters in Emsworth, Hampshire where they live. It was a clear day, calm and sunny, but due to the time of year was quite cold. The family were standing outside their house on Victoria Road. Mark’s younger daughter pointed up at a plane crossing the sky.

Mark glanced up at it. As he did so he also caught sight of a flash of light from a second object. He focused on it and could see a faint star-like light moving steadily but slowly from West to East. It was hard to judge exactly how big the object was or at what height it was at. The plane appeared to be at around 15000 feet, and the UFO appeared at a higher altitude than that.

Mark wanted a closer look at the object so ran inside the house and got his binoculars. Returning outside he managed to locate the object again. He could see what appeared to be a dark brown-grey coloured roundish shaped object, with a distinctive pink flashing light at its centre. This light was flashing in a continuous pattern which seemed to change rhythm a couple of times. He was certain it was mechanical and not a balloon of some kind.

He took some video footage and still photographs of the object using his camera. At full 18x zoom the object was still not very close, and the object looked different to how it appeared through the binoculars. As the camera was on autofocus it kept losing focus on the object.

Mark watched the UFO for about 5 minutes before losing sight of it and being unable to re-locate it. During this time his partner was also able to see the object. He felt that it may have been some kind of military balloon, but if so what was the purpose of the flashing light on it?

Mark claims that through his binoculars the object looked dark, roundish in shape and had a flashing pink light at its centre. However this is not evident from the video footage or photos. These show a brightly glowing object, with no clear regular flashing light. If I just had the footage and photographs to go on I would suggest that it was a Chinese lantern which had been launched in daylight. I have launched lanterns myself in daytime hours and when viewed from below at an angle they look quite similar to this, both in their colour and shape. In the video the object is not seen to perform any manoeuvres which would suggest it was under intelligent control and not just drifting in air currents. The movement seen is down to camera shake and not the actual object moving.

Mark stated in his original E-Mail to me that the object appeared different on camera than it did when he viewed it through his binoculars, due to the lower zoom level and auto-focus. The famous saying “The camera never lies” is not strictly true in some circumstances. But perhaps a lantern could still be the explanation. Could the dark shape which he saw have been the lantern silhouetted against the sky? Could the pink flashing light have in fact been the flame flickering within it? Perhaps the brightness of the glow from it obscured these details when viewed through the camera lens. This is a possibility which must be taken into consideration.

Through binoculars the object reminded Mark of some UFO video footage taken by Anthony Woods from Southampton in the early 2000s. Anthony took many UFO videos, however one showed a peculiar-shaped black object with what appeared to be numerous flashing lights on it. Below are some stills of this object alongside CGI reconstructions:

Conclusion

This is an interesting sighting, and the witnesses description of how the object looked up close is intriguing. If the object really did have a regularly flashing pink light at its centre, then what could it have been? It is possible that an LED balloon could be the explanation. These come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are sometimes set to flash on and off. However these would usually be launched after dark. Due to its appearance and movement pattern on the video footage it is clearly not a conventional aircraft or helicopter. Perhaps it was some kind of weather monitoring balloon, however these are usually just white or silver in colour and do not have any flashing lights on them.

As you can see in the video/photo analysis section, I feel there is the possibility it was a Chinese lantern, and that through his binoculars the witness mistook it for something more unusual. Mark says he has launched lanterns before and knows what they look like, though he has never launched them in daylight. However the testimony of the witness must also be considered, so I would not put it out of the question that it was something else entirely. As with many other sightings it therefore remains unexplained.

In November 2010 Jemma King and her boyfriend Richard Llwyd-Edwards experienced a sighting of a large glowing spherical UFO near to the village of Corris in Wales. She originally informed PRUFOS about the incident, but in early 2011 decided to post the sighting on Richard Hall’s website, which is how she initially got in touch with me.

Sighting Details

Mid-evening on 6th November 2010, Jemma and Richard were driving from their house at Corris Uchaf along the A487 to the nearby town of Machynlleth to go food shopping. It was around 7.30pm, and an overcast, wet and windy evening. It was already dark due to the time of year but the sky was covered in cloud so the stars were not visible.

As they turned a corner in the road Jemma noticed a large circle of light in the sky in front of them. She was chatting with Richard so at first did not really engage with what she was seeing. As the colour of the light was neon orange she assumed at first that it was a street light positioned up high somewhere she had never noticed before. As she looked at the light it slowly dawned on her that there could not be a street light in that position. They came to a clear stretch of road and at this point it became obvious that the light was coming from a huge orange glowing sphere that was suspended high up in the air. Jemma had now been watching it for at least a minute, and it hadn’t moved at all during this time.

She exclaimed to Richard “What the hell is that?!” to which he replied the same. They watched the object for about a minute while Richard found somewhere suitable to pull over the car. As he did so they discussed the idea that it was a Chinese lantern, but quickly dismissed this theory. They had seen lanterns launched from a wedding earlier in the year so knew exactly what they looked like both up close and at a distance. Jemma’s then considered the idea that it was some kind of planet that had come into view in the sky and for whatever reason appeared very close to the Earth. But deep down she knew it could not be this as the sky was overcast. The object was very large in the sky, about twice the size that the moon would have appeared if it was not hidden by cloud. It had clearly defined edges and was glowing a constant intensely bright orange-red. It was completely silent.

Richard stopped the car close to the Braich Goch Inn so they could get out and get a better look at the object. Almost immediately after they got out, the object suddenly ascended at a rapid speed. Richard shouted “It’s moving! Look!” The object then descended back downwards to where it had been, before moving horizontally a short distance and then vanishing without trace! It did not look like it had flown into the clouds. It only took several seconds for it to make these manoeuvres.

Once it had gone, Jemma and Richard got back in their car and continued their journey. On the way home later they looked for it again but it had not returned.

Sighting Analysis

Jemma is completely convinced that what they witnessed was either a covert military craft or a genuine UFO. I would agree with this statement. Often orange orbs of light seen in the sky can probably be explained away by Chinese lanterns. However this object seemed much too large and clearly defined for it to have been a lantern. It also displayed manoeuvres that suggested it was under control – hovering motionless for over two minutes, despite the windy weather, before suddenly moving various directions and then vanishing. A lit inflatable or lantern would surely have drifted in the wind during this time or moved on a continuous path. But it is the apparent size of the object which impresses me the most. Lanterns are actually cylindrical in shape and only appear as orange orbs at a distance. They are not very big and would certainly not appear like something bigger than the moon unless they were very close, at which point their actual shape and structure would become visible.

It was clearly not a normal aircraft or helicopter. Due to the manoeuvres it performed it could not have been a hot air balloon. The sighting took place in quite a rural area so perhaps it was a secret aircraft the military were testing out. However due to the appearance of the object this seems quite unlikely. For what purpose would the military be flying a huge glowing spherical object around? It seems more likely to me that the object was extraterrestrial in origin, especially as there have been many sightings before of similar UFOs all around the world, some of which I have directly investigated.

Sighting Details

At 7.30pm on the evening of 4th November, Andrew and his wife Jenny (names changed for privacy reasons) were near to their house on Paul Street, Wednesbury. It was a clear evening, and the sun had almost fully set. Andrew suddenly noticed an orange light in the sky off to the right of Moor Street. He pointed it out to Jenny and they had a good look at the object. It looked like the shape of a spinning top but with sparkles around the edge, and was glowing a bright orange. The object did not appear to be very large and appeared to be hovering stationary in the sky. It was completely silent. Jenny asked “Have you ever seen that before?” to which Andrew replied “No”.

The witnesses stared at the object for a short while, then suddenly it started to ascend vertically and blinked out. A few moments later it came back into view to the left of the road between the clouds. At this point Andrew got out his mobile phone and took several photographs of the object. Unfortunately as it was after dark these did not really come out and all that could be seen on them was a slight orange glow. They continued to watch and soon afterwards the object was lost from sight and did not reappear.

Sighting Analysis

It is probable that the objects that Andrew and Jenny saw were in fact two Chinese lanterns. These are very popular around Halloween and Bonfire Night, and many were launched all around the UK. The colour of the objects is in line with them being lanterns. The appearance that Andrew describes sounds a little odd, but I feel that the sparkles he is talking about around the edges of the object were probably caused by the flame inside flickering. Lanterns usually tend to ascend slowly because of the hot air inside them, however as it was a still night they could well have appeared to be stationary, especially as they were not observed for a very long time.

When the object suddenly vanished this could well have been the flame inside it burning out. Andrew was astounded by the fact that the object vanished to the right of the road and then a moment later reappeared at the left. However I feel it was probably two separate lanterns that had both been launched in the local area. The first one burnt out, and then soon afterwards the second one came into view. This is only a theory and it is not definite that the objects were lanterns, but this is the most likely explanation.

November 2010 - Hailsham, Sussex - Shimmering Disc UFO Sighting

It was an overcast but dry morning in November 2010. Anthony Mewett was walking his pet dog on Forest View in Hailsham, East Sussex. It was 6am and still dark. The street lights were still on. As he turned a corner on the road, Anthony heard a strange low humming sound. He looked up and saw a disc-shaped object covered in shimmering multi coloured lights, giving it a rainbow-like effect. It appeared to be quite large in size, perhaps 150 feet across. The object was nearly overhead but slightly off to his right and appeared to be at a low altitude, at a height of about 200 feet. It was travelling North West at a slow speed.

The object had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. It was only visible for a short moment, before disappearing into the darkness. Frank was shocked at what he had just seen, but was not afraid. For a time he just stood there on the spot thinking about what had happened. There was no-one else around due to the time of morning, and Frank is unaware whether anyone else saw the object.

Sighting Analysis

This is an intriguing sighting, with some very interesting aspects. Due to the apparent size of the object it seems unlikely to have been an LED blimp or other electronically lit inflatable of some kind. That said, perhaps it was actually lower and smaller than it appeared to be, it is hard to accurately judge the height of objects in the sky as there is no point of reference. However if it was an inflatable then it surely would have been silent rather than making a low humming sound. This sound has been reported many times before during close encounters with UFOs, and it is one of the reasons why I feel this may be a genuine sighting.

Also we must take into account the time of morning, why would someone have launched such an object at this time? Even a late night party would generally have finished by then.If it was not a lit inflatable then what else could explain it? It was clearly not a conventional aircraft of any kind, and could not have been a helicopter as the sound of the rotor blades would no doubt have been audible. It was too large to have been a remote controlled model, and it is very unlikely someone would have been trying to play a prank on the witness at that time of morning. It appeared to be a solid disc-shaped object not just multicoloured lights, so it is unlikely to have been odd atmospheric phenomena.

Could it have been a secret military craft? This too seems unlikely as for what purpose would they fly such an object over a residential area in plain sight? Also why would they cover it in multi coloured lights making it very easy to spot?

I feel that mundane explanations for the object can be adequately dismissed, so this may well be a genuine sighting of an advanced ET craft. I have investigated other cases where very similar objects have been seen before, and although the object did not perform any intelligent manoeuvres it is still an impressive sighting.

Sighting Details

Nadimah DePrizio lives in Canalbanagh, Northern Ireland. It is a rural area covered in farm land. On the evening of Halloween 2010, Nadimah was walking her pet goat to his field along Carnalbanagh Road, accompanied by an older farmer named Charley Wright. It was between 8-10pm, and a clear evening with the stars visible and a slight breeze.

They suddenly noticed an orange orb of light off to the right of the road in the sky to the West of their location. It was shining very brightly, and this glow was constant. It was at least 50 feet in the air. It appeared to be quite small, perhaps only a few feet across.

The object was moving slowly towards their location heading in an Easterly direction. It moved on a straight level course without changing speed at all. As it approached, Nadimah and Charley continued along the road. Within a few minutes it was almost directly overhead. They briefly looked down to avoid stepping in a puddle. When they looked back up the object had completely vanished.

Sighting Analysis

Nadimah feels that the object was not a Chinese lantern. She has seen both lanterns and LED balloons before after dark and says that this seemed brighter, and was not flickering at all. It actually got quite close to them and she says that if it were a lantern they would have been able to make out the shape clearly but they could not.

However I am not so sure. The fact that the object was seen on Halloween, one of the most popular days of the year for Chinese lanterns, cannot be overlooked. I saw several lanterns myself on the same night, they are commonly launched from celebrations. Nothing that has been mentioned really suggests that the object could not have been a lantern. It was quite small in size and was moving slowly on a straight course, this is what lanterns tend to do when caught in an air current. It was not flickering, however sometimes lanterns can appear continuously bright. When the object suddenly vanished without trace this could easily have been due to the flame inside it burning out. I believe that taking the evidence into consideration, a lantern seems like the most likely explanation for what was seen.

Sighting Details

It was 9.06pm on 31st October 2010. Alan (real name not disclosed) was driving home from Colchester towards the village of Rowhedge, roughly 4 miles away. There was partial cloud cover, with areas of clear sky between. He was on Old Heath Road when he suddenly became aware of two orange orbs of light in the sky to the South East of his location. They were too far away to tell their exact size and shape. Initially Alan felt that they were a number of miles away over Tillingham, or perhaps even off the coast.

At first Alan assumed the lights were two planes or helicopters. But as he continued to watch he saw that their movement speed and distance from one another was inconsistent. Sometimes they appeared close to each other, other times further apart. He pulled over the car at the side of the road to have a better look at the objects.

After watching them for up to a minute, they suddenly disappeared from sight. Alan feels this may have been due to cloud cover, as by the time he had driven the remainder of the journey it had started to lightly rain and there was no longer any clear sky.

Sighting Analysis

I feel that Chinese lanterns were almost certainly the explanation for Alan’s sighting. Everything he has described is consistent with lanterns including the appearance of the objects, inconsistent flight speed and direction, and sudden disappearance without trace. At no point did the objects perform any manoeuvres which would suggest they were under intelligent control. Perhaps when the objects vanished it was the flame inside them burning out, or perhaps as Alan suggested they disappeared into cloud. Many lanterns were launched across the UK on Halloween night (I saw several pass over my own house), and it is very likely that this is what was witnessed.

Sighting Details

Late evening on 30th October 2010, Winston (name changed for privacy reasons) was out in the back garden of his house on Douglas Gardens, Dunston, Gateshead. It was 11.40pm and a clear evening with only patchy cloud, between which the stars could be seen.

He glanced up into the sky and noticed a glowing orange orb of light travelling to the North. The object looked about the size of a passenger jet, and appeared to be about 1500 feet high. Winston estimates it was travelling at about 200 knots.

He continued to excitedly watch the object for about 20 seconds until it had gone out of view. He felt certain that it was something out of the ordinary and definitely not a commercial aircraft of any kind.

Sighting Analysis

Despite the witness believing that the object was very large in size and at a great height, I feel that the object was probably a Chinese lantern at a much closer distance than how it appeared. The description of the object and its movement pattern fit in with this being the case. It is sometimes very hard to tell the actual distance and size of objects in the sky after dark as there is no point of reference. So the object may well have been much closer and smaller than it appeared to be. If this is taken into consideration, there is nothing to suggest the object was not a lantern caught in an air current. Lanterns are of course widely available these days, and are especially popular around Halloween and Bonfire Night, so I feel this is the most likely explanation.

Introduction

The following case you are about to read about defies rational explanation. It is certainly a bizarre set of circumstances. The case involves both a UFO and unidentified entities, and is in places quite disturbing.

Incident Details

The incident began in the forest up American Fork Canyon just North of Cascade Springs late evening on 28th October 2010. US army soldier Ben and his friends Timothy and Chris were at a campsite 45 minutes along a dirt track in the mountains overlooking Heaber City. They had a bonfire going at the camp, which lit up the surrounding trees in a fiery glow.

At about 11pm, an orb of white light appeared through the trees. The men estimated it was about 50-60 metres to the East of the campsite. The light split into two and began to move back and forth. It changed colour to red, then to green, then back to white. It then vanished from sight. The men were discussing what the orb of light could be when it suddenly returned and repeated the same sequence. It continued to do this numerous times over the next few hours. At no point did the men decide to walk through the forest and find out what was causing the light, but it was a bit un-nerving.

After a while, the men started to hear crackling noises coming from the trees near to the camp. This sound would come and go and was very distinct. Ben kept on telling himself that it was the sound of the fire bouncing off the trees, but he did not really believe this deep down.

In the early hours of the morning, at least 3am, the orb of light had just appeared and vanished. Soon after it had gone, the men suddenly heard a deep growling sound and movement near to the camp. They thought there was a big animal of some kind nearby, so decided it was a good time to leave. They all got back in the car and started driving back along the dirt road to the South.

After about three miles, Timothy got out a minute to use the bathroom. He headed over to the side of the track, while Ben and Chris remained in the car. Suddenly he noticed two strange looking figures running towards the car out of the darkness from the direction of the campsite. They had something strange up around the shoulders which almost looked like wings. They were moving very quickly in the direction of the car. As it was dark they could not see their features clearly. Timothy ran back to the car and they sped away down the track. Looking behind them they could see that the two figures were giving chase, and somehow were managing to keep up with the car! Ben was very scared and felt that these figures were going to catch up with the car and something bad was going to happen. He could see that Timothy and Chris were also very un-nerved by the situation.

After about 5 minutes, the car reached the main road at the end of the dirt track. As they turned onto the road, something large flew over the top of the car. The soldiers believe that one of the creatures had taken off and flown above them off into the night. The men continued their drive home and discussed what had just happened.

Incident Analysis

This is a very unusual series of events. Considering the remoteness of their location, it is very easy to see why the men reacted the way they did and why they were so un-nerved. They must have felt quite vulnerable out in the forest after dark with no-one else around.

The colour changing light that the men saw through the trees is very interesting. As the location was so remote it is very unlikely that there would have been any vehicles out there which could have accounted for it, they were nowhere near any settlements. It could not have been a landed helicopter as it kept on vanishing and reappearing for numerous hours. Also they would have certainly heard the rotor blades. Neither of these explanations could explain how the light appeared to split into two. The repeating pattern that the light/lights performed was very unusual, and it is hard to think of a reason why anything, ET or otherwise, would do such a thing, unless it was trying to communicate directly with the men.

The crackling noises heard in the trees were unusual and it is not known whether or not they were related to the light or what happened later. Perhaps it really was caused by echoes from the bonfire, however if this were the case you would expect the noises to be continuous and not come and go.

Could the growl and movement heard have been from the beings that then gave chase? Or was it merely a bear or other animal getting close to the camp? We will probably never know the answer to this question.

The beings themselves certainly sound unusual. Some may immediately dismiss them to be people pulling some kind of practical joke on the men. We must always consider that the entire incident – the unexplained light, the sounds in the forest and the beings were part of an elaborate joke designed to frighten the witnesses. But if the beings were human, then how were they able to keep up with the car as it drove away from the area at quite a speed? And what was it that flew over the roof of the car as they reached the main road?

I hope to soon provide further details of this fascinating case, but so far Ben has not got back in touch after his initial E-Mail, so for now this is all the information that is available.

Sighting Details

At 8.30pm on 20th October 2010, Mikey was dropping his girlfriend off in Carelton after an evening out. Due to the time of year it was already darkin the sky, but was a clear evening and the stars could be seen. After his girlfriend went inside, a light in the sky to the South caught Mikey's attention.

Looking into the sky he was amazed to see a black triangular shaped craft. It was about 500 metres from his location. It looked about 30 feet in length. On the underside of the craft were four lights. There was a bright yellow light at each corner and then a central red light which was flashing. Mikey is interested in UFOs and so immediately felt that it was an extraterrestrial craft.

The UFO was hovering completely motionless and was silent. After about two minutes it suddenly began moving away to the South in the direction of Rotherham/Barnsley. It was moving slower than a plane would, and he continued to watch it until it had gone out of sight.

Five days later while at work, Mikey read an article in The Sun newspaper about a daylight sighting of a triangular-shaped UFO in Rotheram, complete with a photograph. The article did not give the date of the sighting, but Mikey wondered if it was possible that this was the same craft he had seen, as it had flown off in the direction of Rotherham.

Sighting Analysis

This is a very convincing sighting, and I believe it may well have been of a Flying Triangle craft. This type of craft has been seen many times all around the world, especially over the last couple of decades. The colour, shape, size and lighting configuration that Mikey mentions are both commonly reported, although not always identical (for example, sometimes the central light does not flash). As the object hovered still for two minutes it cannot have been a conventional aircraft. This lighting configuration does not fit with it being a helicopter, also it was completely silent, if it was a helicopter Mikey would certainly have been able to hear it. It appeared to be too large to be a remote controlled model, and is very unlikely to have been a lit inflatable object.

Some people believe that flying triangles are actually a secret military project, however if this were the case they would not fly them over populated towns. Also they have been seen to perform very advanced manoeuvring capabilities and move at incredible speeds, and this craft type has also been reported in numerous contact cases involving alien abduction or sightings of beings. For these reasons I believe that these craft are extraterrestrial in origin.

The image that appeared in The Sun is apparently a fake. Another researcher has discovered that the main photograph in the article is from a completely different case about a daylight meteor seen over Bristol in August 2010. You can see the article featuring the same photograph here:

Sighting Details

Nicky (name changed for privacy reasons) lives in the East Midlands and uses a wheelchair. At 1.14pm on the afternoon of 17th October 2010 she was waiting outside her flat for her friend to collect her. She had a portable CD player and was playing some gentle music while staring up at the blue sky, thinking how peaceful it was. It was a clear and sunny day with no clouds visible.

Suddenly two large spherical-shaped objects flew into view almost overhead but a bit forward from her position. Their colour was like a paler version of the colour of the sky. On each there was a darker area on the right hand side. Nicky estimates they were about half the size of a small aircraft. They appeared to be lower in altitude than low lying clouds would usually be.

At first Nicky thought they were two planes about to collide with one another as they were flying towards each other. However they did not collide, but instead started to move back and forth near to each other, dancing around. This lasted for between 5-10 minutes. After this time they lined up one behind the other and then both flew away at an incredible velocity. They moved so fast when they went that they vanished from sight in just a brief moment.

During the experience, Nicky noted that time almost seemed to slow down, she felt very relaxed and peaceful while watching the UFOs and lost all comprehension of the passage of time. Afterwards she felt warm all over and was in shock at what she had just witnessed. When her friend turned up she told him about what she had seen, and also called her daughter to tell her about it.

Sighting Analysis

The appearance of the UFOs in this sighting sounds quite unusual. Usually spherical UFOs seen are silver in colour, yet these objects were a light blue with small darker areas. However it is possible that they in fact were silver but were highly reflective and reflecting the blue sky. Or perhaps they were even semi-translucent, so the sky could be partially seen through them.

Another possibility is that they were using advanced stealth technology to partially disguise their presence. This was suggested to me by another UFO researcher from Texas, who informed me that he has learnt from military sources that some ET craft have the ability to project an image of the sky onto the side facing the witness. But this projected image is always either slightly paler or slightly darker than the actual sky. They can even project images of clouds to blend in with the background. The US government is apparently working on this technology for military purposes.

Both the appearance of the objects and the manoeuvres they performed are very interesting. They certainly did not appear to be conventional aircraft or helicopters. They could not have been inflatable's due to the dancing patterns they performed followed by the speed at which they left the area. The objects clearly appeared to be aware of one another and under intelligent control. It was a clear day so it is unlikely that they were simply covered by a cloud. Many UFOs have been reported making similar manoeuvres to what Nicky observed all around the world, and this has all the signs of a genuine sighting. The way time seemed to slow down for Nicky is another interesting point, other witnesses have reported similar things before so this may well have been something specific which was taking place.

Unfortunately I have not been able to get in touch with Nicky after receiving her initial E-Mail, so currently have no further information on this incident. If I manage to speak with her again, I may be able to add further details about what happened.

21/09/2010 - Gillingham - White Orb UFOs Sighting

Many sightings of UFOs that take place after dark are just of anomalous glowing unidentified lights. In such incidents it is hard to say what the object is going on appearance alone, other aspects of the sighting such as movement pattern becomes much more important. In this particular case, the movement of the objects is the most impressive aspect.

Sighting Details

It was around 9.00pm on 21st September 2010. Paul, Jason and Jason's two sons had been to Cantebury for the day for football training. They were on their way back to London. Jason was driving the car, and Paul was in the passenger seat. They were driving along the M2 motorway. It was a clear and still night and the stars could be seen overhead. As the car approached the Medway services near Gillingham, Kent, Paul noticed two bright white orbs of light in the sky directly in front of them to the North East East. He watched for a moment before alerting the others in the car to their presence.

He continued to watch the lights, which were hovering in the sky and slowly moving towards and away from each other. They appeared to be a number of miles away from their location and about 500-600 feet high. Initially Paul thought they must be helicopters.

After about 2 minutes one of the lights suddenly dimmed in brightness and then greatly increased in acceleration and flew away to the North West towards London at an extremely fast speed. It was only visible for several seconds before it had gone out of sight! A few seconds later the remaining object performed the same manoeuvre, but this time flew away to the North towards Essex. Due to the movement observed, Paul was immediately certain that the objects had not been helicopters and must have been something else entirely.

Sighting Analysis

Despite the fact the UFOs were only seen at a distance and no discernable shape could be made out, this is an impressive sighting due to the movement pattern observed. As Paul rightly points out, when the objects left the area they did so at a speed far greater than helicopters could move at. The fact the objects were more or less stationary for up to two minutes before means they cannot have been conventional aircraft either. They obviously moved far too fast to have been something else such as LED balloons or remote controlled models. A natural explanation such as ball lightning is also extremely unlikely in this case.

I feel that due to the movement seen, there is certainly a possibility that this was a sighting of two advanced craft, possibly of extraterrestrial origin. If what was seen was two secret military craft or drones, it is unlikely they would have been flown in such a public location, in full view of anyone driving along the M2 motorway at that time.

This report covers an unusual sighting of four triangular shaped objects which were observed over the Birmingham area in early September 2010.

Sighting Details

At 8pm on the evening of 20th September 2010, Simon and Judith (Names changed for privacy reasons) were watching TV in their home on Brook Lane, Springfield, Birmingham. It was a clear evening and the sun had set. The curtains of the living room were still open. Simon happened to glance through the window a moment. He saw some glowing lights in the sky to the South. He pointed it out to Judith and they both took a closer look.

They saw a flattened triangular shaped object, like a diamond cut in half. Along each of the edges were what looked like red, white and blue lights. The blue and white lights were constant, where as the red ones appeared to be flickering. The main body of the object appeared dark. There was a glowing light at the base of the object which was constantly bright. It was hard to judge exactly how large it was, but it appeared sizeable.

The object was moving on a straight course. They watched it until it had flown out of sight. Soon afterwards a second identical object appeared, heading on the same path as the first. Over the next 5 minutes, four identical objects had been seen, all travelling in the same direction, and all spaced the same distance apart. The witnesses wondered what the objects could be and were fascinated by them.

Sighting Analysis

This is an interesting sighting and one which it is hard to pin down an explanation for. The objects certainly had an unusual appearance, and did not look like conventional aircraft or balloons. The fact there were four of them means they were unlikely to be radio controlled models of some kind. They were clearly not typical Chinese lanterns, as these tend to appear as glowing orange/yellow orbs of light.

However the movement pattern of the objects and the fact they appeared one at a time suggests that they could have been inflatables drifting in an air current which had been launched from somewhere just as lanterns often are. Perhaps the objects were LED balloons. These are balloons which come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are electronically lit by one or more LEDs. This seems like a possible explanation for the strange objects, but it is by no means a definite.

It is feasible that the objects were under control, but they did not display any manoeuvres which would definitely suggest intelligence. This sighting will probably remain a mystery. If you have any information about what these objects could have been, please get in touch.

04/09/2010 - Wombourne - Orange Domed UFO Sighting

Sighting Details

The Jones family live in the area of Pool House Farm, Wombourne. At 8.30pm on the evening of 4th September 2010, Mr Jones came out of his house to collect something from the car. It was a calm dry evening but cloud cover blocked the stars from sight.
As he walked down the drive a light in the sky caught his attention. He looked up and saw a glowing orange tall dome-shaped object crossing the sky. The object was very bright, with an even brighter yellow-orange glow coming from the base of it. Mr Jones estimates it was about half a mile from his position. It looked about the size of a double decker bus, and appeared to be quite low down, about 40 feet up.

Mr Jones was shocked by the appearance of the object and the way in which it appeared to be flying on a controlled path across the sky. He called his partner and 3 children to also come and take a look at the object. It was moving in a Westerly direction, estimated at about 50-60 mph. As it headed on a straight course, it slowly increased in altitude. His wife ran back inside and grabbed a camera. She tried taking a photograph of the object but it wouldn’t come out due to the distance and the fact it was after dark. They all watched the object for about 4 minutes until it was obscured by cloud to the West.

Sighting Analysis

Even though the witnesses felt the object could not have been a Chinese lantern due to its apparent size and straight flight path, I feel that this is more than likely the explanation for what was seen. As lanterns are launched after dark and are very bright, they can often appear larger than they actually are because there is no point of reference in the night sky. They often tend to drift on a straight course across the sky when they are caught in an air current, and will usually slowly gain in altitude because of the heated air inside them. The description of the object clearly matches a lantern, with a brighter glow coming from the centre of the base where the source of the flame was. Even though it felt like a calm night, there may well have been a slow current of air at the altitude the object was at which could have accounted for the movement observed. It did not perform any manoeuvres which would suggest it was under intelligent control. Therefore I feel quite certain that the object seen was a Chinese lantern.

August or September 2010 - Worlingham - Flying Triangle Sighting

John Gibson lives in the town of Worlingham in Suffolk. In August or September of 2010 (exact date unknown) he had a sighting of what may well have been a Flying Triangle craft. He knew nothing of this type of craft until he saw one of Richard Hall’s shows recently. After realising this could have been what he saw, he decided to get in touch via Richard’s website. This report covers the details of this interesting case.

Sighting Details

It was about 10pm in the evening and John was sitting out on the back patio of his house on Sheridan Walk. It was a mild evening and the sky was completely clear. The sun had gone down and the stars were fully visible. John was facing to the North with a view down the garden. At the base of the garden is a row of trees so he is not able to see clearly into the distance.

Suddenly John noticed something come into view from behind the tree tops. There was what appeared to be a large triangular shaped object moving towards his location in a South Easterly direction. It appeared to be at quite low altitude, possibly around 1000 feet. It was completely black in colour and could be seen against the sky as it blocked out the stars. There was no lighting or markings on the object visible. John estimates it was about 100 yards across. It was completely silent.

The object was moving at about 100 knots (115 mph) on a level straight course. When John first noticed the UFO it was at an angle of about 50 degrees. However soon it had reached him and flew right overhead. He noticed that it was completely equilateral in shape. The object continued on its way and John jumped up and walked down the garden so he could continue to watch it as it went over the house. After about 20 seconds the object had flown out of sight.

John did not have a camera on him at the time, but he says even if he did the object would probably not have come out as it was black against the night sky.

Sighting Analysis

This is a fascinating sighting, and I feel it may well have been a Flying Triangle craft. Usually this craft type is seen with lights on the base, either at each corner and the centre or right around the edges. The fact that John saw no lights on it is unusual but perhaps it had them switched off at the time for whatever reason. It does not sound like a conventional aircraft of any kind. All planes would fly with lights on after dark, so the fact no lights were seen suggests it was something else. There was also no sound coming from the object even though it appeared to be at relatively low altitude. It is extremely unlikely that someone would be flying a hand glider over the town after dark.

If it was the size that it appeared to be to the witness, then I find it highly unlikely it was an inflatable of some kind drifting on an air current. The path it took seemed too direct and level for this, and remember that it was a very still calm night. It also seems much to large to have been a remote controlled model, and this would almost certainly make sound of some kind.

I feel the most likely explanation for the object is that it was a Flying Triangle craft, which possibly was flying without lights on or possibly didn’t have any lights to begin with. Some believe these craft are an ongoing secret military project but if so this is taking place on a global level. It would also be completely illogical to fly it directly over a populated area in plain sight. I believe these craft are extraterrestrial, and that this could have been a genuine sighting of one.

1971 to 29/08/2010 - Surrey - UFO Sightings & Paranormal Activity

Introduction

Sherrie Robinson has spent the majority of her life at various properties around the area of Surrey. Over the years she has had a number of very interesting experiences, including numerous UFO sightings and various paranormal encounters. She has enthusiastically shared details of these experiences with me, and it is my pleasure to now be able to share them with you.

Near Death Experience

Sherrie had a near death experience in 1971/72 when she was 12/13 years old near the start of secondary school. She went swimming at 'The Kingston Coronation Baths' swimming pool. The pool no longer exists but used to be on Denmark Road, Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey. Her and her friend Natasha were asked by another 8 year old girl if they could accompany her across the pool as she was learning to swim. They agreed and began to swim across the pool, either side of the girl. Half way across the little girl began to panic and grabbed hold of Sherrie, wrapping her legs around her neck. Sherrie was submerged underwater because of the weight of the girl dragging her down. She thrashed around trying to get the girl to let go but she held on even tighter. The life guard did not appear to have noticed what was going on.

Sherrie started sinking deeper underwater and literally saw her life flash before her eyes. It looked to her like an old reel of camera film, which was showing her pictures of memories getting younger and younger as each one flicked by. Then her panic subsided and she remembers thinking to herself “Oh dear, I am going to die, never mind.” A moment later someone grabbed her hand and dragged her back up out of the water to the pool side.

This incident may not be relevant at all to Sherrie’s later experiences, but I mention it because people who have had NDE’s have often reported paranormal activity later in their life, there may be some form of connection. Some believe that having an experience like this can lead to them being more aware of the spirit realm or other dimensions.

UFO Over The House

When she was about 28 years old, Sherrie lived at on Woodlands Avenue, West Byfleet, Surrey (Out of interest this was close to Horsell Common which was the initial landing place for the Martians in the renowned ET invasion story War Of The Worlds). One night around 3am she awoke to a low humming sound that was coming from above the roof of the house. It sounded like something slowly rotating. She felt un-nerved by the sound and immediately had the gut feeling that it was something out of the ordinary. She tried to wake up her boyfriend but for some reason she could not get him to stir. Even when she dug her nails into him he would not wake, which was highly unusual as he was a light sleeper at the best of times.

Sherrie got up out of bed. As she did she realised her hair was wet with sweat, something did not feel right and she was quite scared. She felt almost too frightened to walk. She crept low to the curtains of the room and then was tried to pluck up the courage to peek outside. She felt like her every move was being observed.

In the end she pulled back the corner of the curtain and looked outside. Down in the garden was what looked like a miniature whirlwind going round and round in an anti-clockwise direction. Yet next doors garden was completely still. She tried to look up to the roof but her view was blocked by the guttering. Then suddenly without warning, the object above the house took off at a fantastic speed. It was glowing very brightly and leaving a trail of multicoloured light behind it. It was so bright and fast that the actual shape of the object could not be made out. It flew away from the area just skimming the tops of the nearby trees and was gone in a matter of seconds!

Even after the object had vanished from sight the strange droning noise continued to hang in the air. She ran back to bed and hid her head under the covers to drown out the sound. She remained awake for quite a while afterwards, amazed at what she had just witnessed. In the morning she told her boyfriend about what had happened. She wondered if anyone else had also seen the object or heard the noise, but did not ask any of the neighbours.

About two years later, Sherrie remembers seeing an article in the Surrey Herald which spoke of a UFO which had been seen over the area. Sherrie figured that other people must have also seen it but kept quiet about it at the time, and were now finally talking about it. Sadly she did not keep this article and I have so far been unable to locate it anywhere.

This is a fascinating incident and numerous aspects point towards it being a genuine experience with an ET craft. The low droning/humming noise has often been reported with sightings all over the world. The fact that Sherrie could not wake up her boyfriend no matter what she tried has been reported by contactees on many occasions, and does suggest that the craft was interacting with the surrounding area or perhaps there to abduct Sherrie. It appears that the ETs have a way of shutting down other individuals in the proximity of the abductee, perhaps by using some kind of time distortion. This makes sense, and is probably done so that they cannot witness the abduction or intervene with it in any way. Sherrie is not showing any signs of actually being taken during this incident. But the ETs usually remove memories of the experience. It is a possibility that she was unknowingly abducted, and awoke as soon as she was returned. As an example, a very similar experience was reported by a contactee from Erdington in Birmingham, whose report you can read elsewhere on this website.

The swirling whirlwind which was observed out in the garden was almost certainly being caused by the UFO which was hovering over the top of the house, and could possibly have been due to the means of propulsion of the craft or the energy field it was surrounded in. Again this exact phenomena has been described to me on numerous occasions by other witnesses. You may be thinking right now that this effect could have been caused by helicopter rotor blades. But if it was a low flying helicopter then the sound would have been immediately recognisable as this. Also the object moved away from the property much too fast for it to have been a helicopter, it was literally gone in seconds.

I am very impressed with this incident, and feel that it could suggest that Sherrie is more than just a UFO witness.

The Haunted Bedsit

In 1993 when she was 34, Sherrie moved into a council-owned bedsit named on Corkran Road, Subiton, Surrey. The property was a huge old mansion which had been split into 8 bedsits. It had a wooded area of land out back and a large gravel driveway. As soon as Sherrie saw it, it reminded her of a haunted house. The bedsit she was offered was on the 1st floor. It had a kitchenette living room with a high ceiling and leaded windows. She had to share the bathroom with 3 other people. There was a small adjacent room which was initially locked but which the council said she could have as well. A few weeks after she moved in she finally got the key for this room. There was a sink inside with only cold water as the council had cut off the hot water. Sherrie found out that the house had been a nursing home for the blind, and that this room was the sick room. After getting the key, she decided it would be best to use this room for her bedroom. It was right next to the living room but there was no door between the two, she used to have to go out into the corridor to get between the two rooms.

After four years at the bedsit, Sherrie got tired of having to go out into the corridor to reach the bedroom so she decided to knock a hole through the wall to join the rooms. She feels that in doing this she may have upset spirits haunting the property, as soon afterwards weird events began to occur.

The first thing that happened is that on occasion when her friends were visiting her, they would suddenly get a strong waft of the smell of flowers right near to them. This would make them stand up in shock. Soon after these incidents, Sherrie began to hear a strange dragging noise in the living room at night which sounded like something hurt and dragging itself across the floor. Her boyfriend and friends also heard this sound. Sherrie used to believe that the last person to live there was an old man with a dog, and it was the ghost of the dog still haunting the room.

One night in 1998, she inexplicably awoke at 3am in the morning. She was lying front down in bed with her head facing towards the knocked through door which led to the living room. As she opened her eyes, she noticed something strange in the living room. She pulled herself up onto her elbows and strained her eyes to see in the dark. She saw what looked like the head and shoulders of a small boy suspended in mid-air. The boy had blond hair and was wearing a royal blue top. He appeared to be in conversation with someone on the sofa and looked very animated. Sherrie could see her cupboard through the boy. She sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes. Looking again, the boy was still there, and had in fact become denser in colour but she could still only see from the shoulders up. She looked at the sofa and too her surprise saw that an apparition of an old man was forming. He was wearing a herring bone checked suit with waistcoat. He had a hooked nose and chin which reminded Sherrie of Punch from a Punch & Judy show. Sherrie did not like the look of this old man, but the boy chatting to him seemed totally at ease. The two apparitions seemed totally unaware of her presence.

Just like the boy, the old man then began to become denser and clearer. Then what looked like two burning red halos of light began to form next to the boy, one higher than the other. They slowly began to change into the apparitions of two other boys. Sherrie assumed they must be friends of the boy in blue. Sherrie was not frightened of what she was witnessing, and instead felt very lucky. She flipped on all the lights and immediately the apparitions were all gone. Sherrie was thrilled but also un-nerved, and she did leave the lights on for the rest of the night.

The house sits on the top of a hill and is situated between two churches. Sherrie feels that the boy in blue was a choir boy who was walking from one church to the other with friends and had stopped on the hill for a rest, perhaps leaning on a wall which would explain why she only saw their heads and shoulders. She wonders if the old man had been sitting on a bench at the top of the hill which had been at the same place her sofa now was. She does not know any of this for definite, it is entirely possible that they were ghosts haunting the property itself rather than the area where it had been built.

Soon after this incident she was again awoken around 3am to the sound of a glass in the living room cupboard being knocked over. She peered through into the darkened living room and saw the apparition of a short monk with a scythe under his cloak. This apparition was in the air and moved across the top of the sofa. For an unknown reason, Sherrie actually laughed at the monk saying out loud to him “You silly idiot, you should hold the scythe on the outside of your cloak then you would have not knocked down the glass in my cupboard!” As she said this the apparition vanished in front of her eyes.

On another occasion, Sherrie saw the ghost of a cat in the living room. Again she awoke for no reason at all in the night. She looked through the doorway and saw the shape of a black cat with its back turned to her, although it was not clear enough to see any features. The cat looked like it was cleaning its tail. Sherrie asked “What are you doing here?” The cat got up and walked a few paces then stopped and resumed cleaning itself. Sherrie reached up and put the light on and the cat disappeared.

On numerous occasions she would awake to the sound of the pillow next to the one she was laying on being thumped. She wondered if she was imagining it so purposely laid on the pillow which the noises were coming from, and that night she heard the other pillow get thumped instead!

Eventually she awoke at 3am and once more heard the dragging noises. This time the noises were in her bedroom at the foot of the bed. It was very loud and clear. Suddenly she felt an electric shock pass through her body, and her heart felt like it was beating really hard. She then heard the dragging sound move away and head back into the living room. It was clear that something invisible had approached and directly interacted with her. This got too much for her and the following day she rang up local churches asking if she could get the bedsit exorcised.

She managed to get an elderly priest from Our Lady Immaculate church in Tolworth to come round. He performed an exorcism on the rooms of the bedsit, sprinkling holy water all over the walls and reading out Latin verses. Sherrie wished to leave the property as soon as possible and was actually looking around for another place to live, but after the priest came to visit there was no more paranormal activity there so she remained at the bedsit for many more years.

These are some fascinating and very spooky experiences, and from the way that Sherrie has openly described them to me I believe they took place. Contactees often report seeing paranormal activity in their proximity. However these incidents sound like they are linked to the actual property or the area where the property was built rather than Sherrie directly. And considering some of the incidents were also experienced by her boyfriend and friends, I feel that they are unlikely to be related to her UFO sightings.

White Orb Incident

On the evening of 10th April 2010 Sherrie went round to visit her parents who live on Oxford Crescent, New Malden, Surrey. At 9pm she went outside the front of their house for a cigarette. She leant against the white side gate of the house. It was a cool and dry night. There were some clouds in the sky, and the stars could be seen through the gaps in between. As she looked up into the sky she suddenly noticed a large white glowing light moving in from the North West off to her right. It appeared to be travelling faster than a plane and about the same altitude that they would fly at. The object was glowing extremely brightly and appeared to be about half the size of a Boeing 747 jet.

Sherrie was astounded by the object. She watched it fly on a straight course towards the South East. After about 4 seconds it went into a cloud and was lost from sight. The cloud was not particularly big so she expected it to reappear out of the other side but it did not. She became fixated on the cloud, wondering where the object had gone.

After about a minute a huge orange glowing orb shot out of the right hand side of the cloud. This orb was about the same size that the white one had been. It immediately halted, and Sherrie got the feeling that it was aware she was watching it. A few seconds later it began to move slowly a short distance underneath some other clouds. It then suddenly shot straight upwards at tremendous speed into the cloud and was lost from sight! Sherrie was amazed at what she had just witnessed. She went back inside the house and excitedly told her parents about it.

For the next couple of hours she watched TV. At about 12.20am she thought she would head outside for one last smoke before bed. She went and stood at the same place she had been earlier on. Sherrie figured that nothing else out of the ordinary would occur that night, but she thought wrong. Over by the garage door 10 feet away for her she suddenly noticed what looked like an thin curled glowing light hovering about 3 feet off the ground. It was the shape of an elongated sideways S, and was about 5 feet in length. The colour was the same as the orange sphere she had seen earlier that night. As she watched, it appeared to alter shape a little, and then two orange rectangular-shaped lights appeared in front of it. These were at most a foot in with and 5 inches in depth. They reminded Sherrie of two misshapen eyes. A moment later they began to float towards her, getting lower as they went until they were running along the ground. As they moved, they seemed to alter, sometimes appearing more round in shape. The s-shaped light vanished and then as the rectangular lights reached her feet they too faded away. Sherrie looked around but the street was quiet, and there was no source where these strange lights could have come from, it was truly bizarre.

Sherrie wonders if the two incidents were related, and that the lights she saw was some sort of observation or contact from the orbs she had seen earlier in the evening.

Below are copies of the original notes that Sherrie took of the two experiences soon after they had occurred:

The various aspects that make up the above incidents are quite hard to explain using mundane terms. Each of the three sightings – the white orb, the orange orb and the unusual orange lights can be looked at individually but we must not forget that they all happened in succession to one another, and appear to be linked (especially the white and orange orbs). The white orb could not have been a meteorite as it was moving too slowly, meteorites cover the entire skyline in under a second. It also looked too large and bright to be this. It was much too fast to be a helicopter, and appeared to be silent. If it had been a plane coming in to land, it would have come out of the other side of the cloud but it did not, it simply entered the cloud and then appeared to either halt or vanish completely. It is unlikely to have been an earth light or ball lightning, as the weather was clear and these do not tend to appear over built up areas.

The orange orb is very interesting indeed. Orange orbs described in UFO reports often turn out to be nothing more than Chinese lanterns. However this orb definitely appeared to be under intelligent control. It moved rapidly out of the cloud before completely stopping and hovering stationary. After continuing a short distance it then suddenly ascended vertically out of sight. These manoeuvres seem too direct and too rapid to have been a lantern drifting in air currents. Also it would be quite a coincidence that the cloud the white orb disappeared into was the same as the one the orange orb emerged from a minute later. Perhaps the object had changed colour, Sherrie did mention that both appeared about the same size.

The strange lights that Sherrie saw in the garden later that night are very bizarre and I cannot think of any similar cases (although some may well exist). It is interesting that the lights were the same colour as the orange orb seen earlier in the evening, this could suggest they were in some way linked with it. Or could they have just been odd reflections cast off something without Sherrie’s knowledge? It did look like they were actually floating in mid-air rather than landing on a specific surface – this suggests that they were some form of glowing energy. We can only speculate as to their purpose or as to why the rectangular lights approached Sherrie’s feet. They did not appear to interact with her directly in any way.

A UFO Fleet?

On Friday 27th August 2010 Sherrie was round her friend Deidre’s house on Sheerwater Avenue, Woodham, Surrey. Deidre’s boyfriend Gavin was also present. They were out on the patio in the back garden facing to the South. It was a very clear and pleasant summer evening. They were talking and star-gazing, and enjoying a bottle of wine and a smoke. Gavin suddenly noticed a bright white light in the sky to the South moving in an Easterly direction. He pointed it out to Sherrie and Deidre. The light was intensely bright and was moving at quite a speed, easily over 200 mph. It was flying around the same altitude as a low flying aircraft.

Initially they thought it must be a meteorite, however it seemed too large and was also moving too slow. After several seconds they lost sight of it behind some trees further down the garden.

Over the next hour they witnessed 21 smaller white lights travelling across the sky from the South making their way overhead towards the North. They appeared to move like tadpoles would in a pond, sometimes wavering a bit. Sometimes they would appear to stop before continuing on their way. Occasionally they would flare up very brightly before dimming back down.

The large white orb seen on this occasion sounds very similar to the one that Sherrie had seen previously back in April 2010. Perhaps they were the same or a similar type of object. As they lost sight of the object they had no way of knowing whether it continued on a straight course or not. It certainly appeared to be in the atmosphere rather than orbiting the Earth. But there is the possibility that on this occasion the object was an aircraft with a bright landing light on, although it did not appear as such at the time.

Considering the number of smaller white lights seen over the course of the next hour, I believe that meteorites or space debris were probably to blame. Sherrie says she has seen several on other occasions too, but never in the same number as on this night. The wobbling effect seen could have been caused by the objects burning up in the atmosphere, and this could also account for the way in which they flared up brightly from time to time. Or perhaps the objects were being caught in the suns rays temporarily, this can be seen to occur with satellites as they follow their orbit or rotate.

Orange Orbs Sighting

Two days after seeing the white orb and smaller lights, Deidre, Gavin, and Deidre’s father Jim had another sighting which they informed Sherrie about afterwards. It was 9.30pm and once again everyone was out in the back garden on the patio. They suddenly noticed 3 orange fiery orbs approaching from the South South East, two of them at the front with a third following a short distance behind. As they came in over the house they then suddenly shot away to the North at great speed.

It is unlikely to be related, but later on around 2am a picture on the bathroom wall fell off, causing a loud noise which woke up Jim with a start and really frightened him. This picture was securely fastened to the wall, and it seemed a weird coincidence it had fallen off on the same night as the sighting had taken place.

I did suggest that these orange orbs may well have been Chinese lanterns, but Deidre believed otherwise due to the speed they had left the area. She was also interested in the subject and used to what lanterns looked like. There is still the possibility that they were lanterns which were suddenly caught in a strong air current, but this aspect is interesting and suggests they may have been something else entirely.

Silver Discs

Sherrie has also given brief details of a sighting of some silver disc-shaped UFOs that her mother once had. Her mum was doing some gardening down on her knees by the flowerbed. It was a clear sunny day. For no particular reason she felt compelled to look behind her up into the sky. When she did so she saw 7-8 silver coloured disc-shaped objects. They were moving across the sky. Four of them then apparently stopped and waited a moment for the others to catch up, after which they then all sped away at a stunning speed. Her mother for some reason now denies that this incident took place, but Sherrie remembers her talking about it on numerous occasions when she was younger.

Unfortunately as Sherrie’s mum denies that she had the sighting, I am unable to speak with her directly about it to obtain further details. It does sound like an impressive sighting of some genuine advanced craft, of possible ET origin. The fact that some of the discs appeared to halt until the others had caught them up before moving off together very fast suggests that they were under intelligent control. They were clearly not conventional aircraft or helicopters of any kind. The fact that they were seen in broad daylight means that there may well have been other witnesses to these objects. Fleets of disc-shaped craft have been seen numerous times before. A good example is the fleet which were seen at various places across the UK in the summer of 1974. Conclusion

Sherrie has had many fascinating experiences, some of which appear to be ET related. I do not feel at present there is enough evidence to say she is definitely a contactee, however a couple of the incidents she has described do appear to have a degree of direct interaction to them, including the UFO seen hovering over the house in 1985, and the orange lights which approached her in April 2010. Sherrie is obviously very interested and passionate about the subject and feels grateful to have had these experiences. I am sure she will stay in touch and keep me informed of other events as they unfold.

Summer 2005 - August 2010 - Norwich - Silver Sphere & Orange Orb Sightings

Introduction

“Clicks” from Norwich has had several interesting sightings of UFOs in the skies over Norwich. His initial sighting took place in the summer of 2005, and then a few years later in the summer of 2008 he had two separate sightings of similar objects.

Summer 2005 - Silver Sphere Sighting

It was 3-4pm on a clear sunny and still afternoon in the summer of 2005. Clicks was out in his car with his girlfriend Michelle. They were at the junction between Prince Of Wales Road and Riverside Road, opposite Norwich Train Station, and were stopped at the lights. Suddenly Clicks noticed an object in the sky above the station clock. It looked like a matt silver coloured sphere. It looked quite small, about 2-3 feet in diameter. It was moving slowly in parallel to Prince Of Wales Road and was about 80 feet in the air, twice the height of the clock tower. Clicks estimates it was moving between 20-30 mph. It was heading on a very level and straight course and certainly looked like it was being controlled.

Clicks pointed it out to his girlfriend, and mentioned that if he still had the "black widow" catapult that he used to have when he was younger he would have been able to hit it. They watched the sphere for about 10 seconds after which it was lost from sight behind The Nelson hotel to their right. Clicks looked around to see if anyone else had seen it but everyone else was going about their usual business, it looked like it was only him and Michelle who had seen it.

Clicks has a keen interest in UFOs and felt the object they had seen was some kind of probe due to its small size, and was probably extraterrestrial. He says it was definitely not a balloon because it was close enough to see clearly, and if it was a balloon there would have been a knot or string. Also its movement was very direct, despite the fact it was a still day.

Silver spheres are one of the most commonly reported types of UFO and are seen world-wide. Even though there remains the possibility that the object was a balloon or an unusual remote controlled model, due to the reasons Clicks gave I too feel that it was probably something else entirely.

August 2008 - Orange Orb Sightings

It was a Saturday evening in August 2008. Clicks was round Michelle's house on Lincoln Street for a BBQ. Michelle, her sisters Kelly and Lisa, her father Darren and a friend Paula. They were all sitting in the back garden of the house, which faces to the South West. It was a warm summer's evening with no wind.

About 7pm a hot air balloon came into view in the South West and landed about half a mile to the South. While Clicks was watching it, Kelly asked him what he was looking at. He said to her "Just a hot air balloon, but I've a feeling we're going to see a UFO tonight". He had no idea why he said this, it just came out.

About 9.45pm everyone was still outside and talking. By this time the sun had gone down, and the moon and stars were visible. Suddenly there was deep rumble sound, similar to the noise a large truck makes when driving past. Nobody paid much attention to it.

A moment later, Clicks noticed a bright orange-red ball of light flying in a South East direction from the North West. It was completely silent and was seemingly moving at a very fast pace. It appeared to be travelling at least several hundred mph, and was about 1000 feet up. Clicks pointed at it and everyone stood up to watch. They all stared at the object for about 15 seconds until it had vanished into the distance.

Once it had gone everyone sat back down. To his amazement, two of the girls then started talking about normal everyday things like nothing had happened. Clicks was mystified by this reaction and asked them "Hey stop, what do you think just happened? Don't you realise there could well have been intelligent life from another planet in that thing we just saw? Is that not incredible?" But there was not much further discussion about what had been seen. A moment later, Michelle mentioned the rumble that had been heard and wondered whether it was connected to the object.

Two or three weeks after the BBQ, Clicks was at his home on Bracondale. He was out in the back garden having a smoke at 11.45pm. The stars were out so he was staring up at the sky looking out for shooting stars and satellites. Suddenly he noticed what looked like the same or a similar object to what had been seen at the BBQ - a glowing orange orb of light. It flew over the roof of the house he was facing and was again travelling in a South East direction. It was about the same height that the object at the BBQ had been, and again appeared to be travelling very fast. He only saw it for about 5 seconds until it had flown out of sight.

These sightings could be put down to Chinese lanterns. However Clicks says that he knows what these look like after seeing them on numerous occasions before, and these objects looked quite different. He also says they were moving much too fast to be lanterns. If the objects seen truly were going at over 300 mph then this would be true. However it is sometimes hard to judge the true speed of objects in the sky especially after dark. Even if it felt still at ground level, this does not mean there were not air currents higher up. The appearance of the objects is consistent with how lanterns look at a distance, and they are often seen to fly across the sky on a straight course.

The lighting of the UFOs is not consistent with any known aircraft or helicopter, and on both occasions they appeared to be silent. It is very unlikely they were earth lights, these do not appear over built up areas. I cannot say for definite, but lanterns are the most likely explanation.

If the object seen at the BBQ really was a glowing craft of some kind and not a lantern, then the rumble heard may have been connected to it, however the noise was heard before the object was even seen, and during the sighting it was silent. It is interesting that Clicks mentioned about seeing a UFO and then later that evening there was a sighting, however this could just be coincidence and is not necessarily linked to what happened.

Conclusion

Clicks has had some interesting sightings, although I do feel that two of them may be explained by Chinese lanterns. However the silver sphere sighting he and Michelle had in 2005 was much more likely to have been something out of the ordinary. I am sure he will continue to watch the skies, and will keep me informed of any further sightings he has.

27/07/2010 - Castle Vale - Orange Oval UFO Sighting

BUFOG receives many reports of glowing orange coloured UFOs. Many of these can be easily explained away as either Chinese lanterns or LED balloons. However occasionally there are cases which suggest a much less mundane explanation. This sighting of a UFO over Castle Vale is one such case.

Sighting Details

Every evening Marcus Sharp likes to take a walk around his neighbourhood in Castle Vale, Birmingham. On the evening of 27th July 2010 at about 8pm he was out on one such walk. It was a warm and clear evening, and due to the time of year was still quite light in the sky. He was near the middle of the estate by Centre Park when he happened to look up into the sky and noticed a glowing object. It appeared to be above the far side of the estate towards the M6 motorway to the South.

His first thought was that it was an aeroplane with sunlight reflecting off it. But he soon realised it looked nothing like a plane or helicopter and was completely motionless. His next thought was that it was something on fire in the sky. The object was glowing an extremely bright orange and appeared to be oval-shaped, almost like the body of a plane without the wings or tail. Marcus wondered if it was actually metallic and had bright sunlight reflecting off its surface. It looked smaller than a plane in size, but not particularly small either, but this was hard to judge accurately because of the distance. It was also hard to tell the exact height of the object, although it wasn’t at very high altitude.

The sight of the object confused Marcus, and he stood there trying to work out what it could be. It looked nothing like a conventional aircraft. He had also seen Chinese lanterns several times before but this object looked a different shape and also much brighter than these had been.

The UFO hovered completely stationary in the air for about 30 seconds. It was completely silent and the brightness of the light coming from it remained constant. Then all of a sudden it completely vanished. It was as if it had blinked out of existence. Marcus had not taken his eyes off the object, it was just there one moment, gone the next.

Sighting Analysis

Although this sighting does have some similarities with a Chinese lantern or orange coloured LED balloon, I find certain aspects very interesting indeed. It is true that lanterns burn a bright orange colour, however they do tend to usually flicker, and Marcus did watch the object for 30 seconds but observed no flickering. Also the shape of the object appears unusual for a lantern, and Marcus says it looked considerably larger than a lantern. He has seen lanterns before but insists that this object was different. When lanterns suddenly blink out this is actually the flame inside them burning out. However they will then fall back down to the ground. It was still daylight, so surely if this had been the case Marcus would have seen the object fall?

Could the object have been an oval-shaped electronically lit orange LED balloon? This is a possibility, however if the light inside had suddenly been switched off the balloon would almost certainly have still have visible against the clear evening sky. Also both lanterns and LED balloons tend to drift randomly and even in still conditions will slowly gain in altitude, however Marcus observed the object hovering still for 30 seconds before it vanished. It was a clear night so there is no possibility that it was suddenly obscured from view by a cloud.

The object was clearly present in the air, and because it vanished suddenly is very unlikely to have been a model. So could it have been a genuine sighting of a craft, maybe of extraterrestrial origin? Perhaps it was, as Marcus stated, actually metallic and reflecting the evening sunlight, and this is why it appeared so bright. There have been many sightings of oval shaped metallic UFOs all around the world. If it was a genuine craft, this would explain how it was able to hover motionless and also suddenly vanish without trace. I feel that this is certainly a possibility which should be considered, due to the reasons stated above. Marcus does not personally believe in UFOs and feels that it must have had an earthly explanation, however I cannot currently give one to any degree of certainty.

18/07/2010 - Dudley - Orange Orb / Grey Saucer UFO Sighting

Sighting Details

Late evening on the 18th July 2010, a couple from Dudley, Paul and Rachel (names changed for privacy reasons) had a sighting of an unusual looking object and managed to capture it on video. It was about 10pm and they had just gone up to bed. It was a relatively clear night with patchy cloud and a light breeze. Stars could be made out through the gaps between the clouds.

The view from their bedroom window looks out to the East and stretches for miles. Paul went over to close the curtains. It was at this point that he noticed a glowing orange light in the sky. It looked like it was no more than 150 feet in the air. It was travelling on a straight course to the North. Luckily the video camera was on the window ledge as he had been using it earlier in the evening. He immediately picked it up and began filming the object. He called over Rachel and they both continued to watch the object.

After it had moved about a quarter of a mile, the orange glow from the object suddenly ceased. They could still see the object, which now looked grey in colour and was saucer-shaped. It began to slowly descend, drifting back and forth much like a feather would. It continued to do so until it had reached the ground and vanished from sight.

The couple continued to watch to see if it would reappear. After a couple of minutes they then saw another orange light in the distance. This one looked like it was over Wednesbury. They watched it for about a minute, after which it faded and disappeared.

Sighting Analysis

I have not yet received the video footage of this object; I hope to be able to watch it soon. However from the description of what took place I feel it is quite probable that this UFO was in fact a Chinese lantern. Lanterns appear as orange orbs of light at a distance after dark, and tend to drift on a straight course, their speed governed by air currents they get caught up in. When the light suddenly went out, it is likely this was the flame inside the lantern burning out.

Rachel says she and her husband believe that the object was a flying saucer because of the shape of it. But lanterns do come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Also the way that the object seemed to drift back and forth as it descended to the ground fits in with it being a light weight object that was no longer being kept afloat.

The second orange light that was seen a couple of minutes later was more than likely a second lantern being launched, as they are often launched in multiples from celebrations.

It is possible that if I get to see the footage I may well change my views, but from what I have been told I feel that Chinese lanterns is the most probable explanation for what took place. If I receive the video footage then with permission I will add it to this report.

17/07/2010 - Henrietta USA - Helicopter UFO Chase

On 21st July 2010 BUFOG received a very interesting sighting report from a man named John living at a place known as Henrietta. Sadly he did not leave any contact details, and there are numerous places by this name so I am unable to state the exact location, however I believe this sighting took place in the USA.

Sighting Details

At 10.50pm on 17th July 2010 John was out on the driveway of his house. It was a clear night and the stars could be seen in the sky. He heard a helicopter coming from the East. It was coming towards his location. As it got closer he could make out that it was an army helicopter. Not only that, it appeared to be chasing after another object. John could not make out the exact shape of this object but it had red and green lights on it. Suddenly the object vastly increased in speed and flew away to the West in a matter of seconds. It did this in complete silence. The helicopter turned and came back round, and switched bright lights on as if it was searching for something.

John called his next door neighbour who also came outside and saw the helicopter. After about 5 minutes of circling the area it slowly flew away into the distance.

John also mentioned that his neighbour followed the UFO sighting on the internet, I assume that he means by this that it was reported by other people too. I have so far not been able to locate anything about this UFO.

Sighting Analysis

This is a fascinating incident and it is a shame that John did not leave his contact details as I would certainly have liked some further details. From what he has said, the UFO certainly sounds like it was something out of the ordinary due to the incredible speed at which it exited the area. It moved too fast to have been a conventional aircraft, model or inflatable of some kind. It is very intriguing that a military helicopter was following the object, and then proceeded to search the area after it had departed - this again suggests that it was something very unusual, possibly a genuine ET craft. It also means that the military in the area were well aware of the object. If John gets in touch then I will be able to add further details to this report.

Sighting Details

Late evening on the 5th July 2010, Tom Smith and his wife Lana had just returned from a fireworks display in Carmel to their home on Dover Drive. They unloaded their SUV and Tom headed inside the house. Lana remained out on the front drive for a moment looking up at the sky. It was a pleasant night with a clear sky and a very low wind blowing, estimated about 3-4 mph. Suddenly Lana noticed a glowing orange object heading towards her from the South West over the house. She called out Tom to also take a look at the object as it passed over almost overhead.

The object appeared to be quite large, Tom estimated it to be about the size of a stealth bomber. It was at quite high altitude but appeared lower than the altitude aircraft would fly at. Due to the brightness of the orange glow coming from the object it was hard to see its actual shape. This glow was constant in brightness and not flickering at all. The object was heading on a straight course to the North East. Tom does not remember whether it was moving in the same direction as the wind or not. It appeared to be moving quite fast, Tom estimates about 300 mph.

The couple watched the object head off into the distance. As it headed away, Lana tried taking a phoptograph of the object on her mobile phone, which unfortunately just came out as a glowing orange pinprick of light:

Within a couple of minutes it had been lost from sight. Tom and Lana remained on the drive chatting about what they had seen. A few minutes went by and then they noticed a second object, exactly the same as the first, and heading on the same course. Again it flew overhead and was lost from sight in the distance. They continued to watch the sky.

Another few minutes went by and then Lana spotted a third object heading towards their location. At this point Tom decided to go and get his binoculars from the garage to take a closer look. When he first looked at the object, all he could see was an intense orange glow. He readjusted his binoculars and made out a triangular shaped object from which the glow was emanating. He and Lana watched this third object go out of sight. They remained outside a while but no further objects came over so in the end they headed back inside.

Tom is ex-military, and has worked for 18 years in the Air Force Reserves. He says that the objects they saw were like no aircraft he had ever seen before. They had no beacon lights on them and were glowing intensely. Both him and Lana were in awe at what they had seen. Tom says that although they have a digital camera they didn’t think about using it at the time as they were so amazed at what they were witnessing.

In the morning Tom rang a previous co-worker, Cliff Allen, who flies small commercial aircraft out of the Greenwood Indiana airport. When Tom discussed the sighting with Cliff, his first response was “I don’t know what you saw”. After further discussion he suggested Tom could have seen some UFOs. Later Tom informed his children, brothers and sisters who were interested in what him and Lana had seen.

Sighting Analysis

This is an interesting sighting, though I do wonder if what was seen was either lanterns or LED balloons. Chinese lanterns do glow a bright orange colour and at a distance it is hard to tell their exact shape. Despite the fact that they often flicker in brightness, sometimes they can appear constant. Lanterns are often launched in multiples. They drift up into the sky and if caught in an air current can appear to follow each other along a straight course across the sky. The objects did not perform any manoeuvres that would suggest they were under intelligent control. Chinese lanterns are usually cylindrical in shape, yet Tom said that the 3rd object appeared triangular. However lanterns are sometimes created in other shapes, or possibly the triangular shape he saw was an optical illusion caused by the brightness of the glow coming from the object. Tom says the objects looked like they were as large as aircraft, however after dark there is no point of reference so it is possible the objects were lower in the sky than they appeared, and therefore could have been smaller. The bright glow emanating from them could have also made them appear larger.

The other possibility is that the objects were orange coloured LED balloons. These can come in a variety of shapes and again tend to follow a straight course across the sky. As they are electronically lit they do not flicker at all, so perhaps this is the explanation.

Obviously I cannot say for certain that it was either of these things. The triangular shape is certainly interesting, so there is still the possibility that they were three unusual glowing craft of some kind. As with many cases, it’s up to you to assess the evidence and decide what you feel the objects were.

Summer 2005 to 04/07/2010 - Saint Helens - UFO Videos & Photographs

Introduction

Usually, UFOs are only witnessed once at a particular location. However, occasionally there are cases where UFOs return to the same area multiple times. A classic example of this is the infamous Rendlesham Forest incident where a craft returned to the same place three days in a row.
This sort of incident provides a great opportunity to capture evidence of the UFOs presence. The key witness in these sightings is named Jason. He is 36 and lives in Saint Helens, Merseyside. He claims to have witnessed the same type of UFO up to twenty times since 2005, sometimes with other witnesses present, and he has numerous video tapes of the object to prove it! This report will look into each of these pieces of footage, as well as some of the other sightings where the object was seen through binoculars but not captured on camera.

The objects he keeps witnessing in the skies over where he lives appear to be white glowing or silver reflective saucer shaped craft. Jason describes them as fat discs with domes on top and at the bottom, and he believes they are about the size of a bus. With some of the later sightings Jason has felt like the objects are flashing and having some sort of interaction with him on a subconscious level. Could these really be extraterrestrial craft or is this a case of misidentification? First of all let’s take a look at some of Jason’s sightings and video segments.

Summer 2005 Sighting

Jason began spotting the UFOs in the skies over Merseyside back in 2005. In the summer time (He cannot remember the date but it was a Saturday) Jason decided he would buy some binoculars to observe the objects he was seeing more closely.

That evening when he returned home, he went out into his back yard with them to see if he could spot anything. Amazingly one of the objects came over his house! It travelled for about a quarter of a mile quite high up in the sky. It then did a right angle turn and stopped. It remained motionless in the sky for 45 minutes, before ascending upward until it was out of sight. Jason watched through the binoculars for the entire time. No-one else was present during this sighting.

August 16th 2007 Sighting

It was a bright sunny evening in the middle of August 2007 and 9.19pm. The sky was clear with very little cloud. Jason was outside when he spotted the UFO crossing the sky. He was immediately familiar with how it appeared. He grabbed his camera and attempted to take a still photograph of the object, but then realised he was in movie mode and was filming it instead. The object was heading in a south-westerly direction. It appeared to be quite high in the air, and was moving at quite a speed on a straight path.

This footage is the closest video footage Jason has managed to get of one of the UFOs so far. On the video it looks like it is glowing white, however Jason says this is because of the contrast, and there are also pink and green tinges in it.

August 17th 2007 Sighing

The following evening at 7.20pm, Jason was once again outside and looking around the sky to see if he could spot anything unusual. Amazingly he spotted two of the objects twisting around each other almost playfully right above his house. The movement patterns reminded him of two birds, but he is certain this is not what they were. He went inside and got his camera. When he returned there was only one of the objects still visible and he started to film it.

His wife came out too and also saw the object, though she assumed it must be a plane. Jason describes their appearance as “two blobs stuck together”. He filmed in total for about 15 minutes, during which time the object moved a short distance across the sky, and then started to ascend until it was out of sight.

15th September 2007 Sighting

It was about a month after the two sightings in August, and 3.35pm in the afternoon. The weather was once again very sunny. On this occasion the object was seen moving from west to east above Jason’s house. He believes it was between 10000-12000 feet high. The object was as usual completely silent. This time the object appeared to be silver in colour and reflecting light rather than glowing white, but he cannot be sure of this fact.

By coincidence while he was filming, the children living next door let go of a silver balloon. Jason decided to get some footage of this also to show the difference between it and the other object he was filming. When he tried focusing back on the object again he found it had vanished.

Fifteen minutes after he had lost sight of the object, a black helicopter flew across the sky where it had been seen. Jason does not know if this is related to the object in any way or not, but he managed to take some video footage of it.

1st March 2009 Sighting

On Sunday 1st March 2009 Jason bought himself a new camera tripod. From 1.30pm he was out in the back yard of his house testing it out. His son also came outside to play. It was about 3.35pm when he looked to the west and first spotted the object. He started filming immediately.

The object was travelling slowly across the sky at a high altitude, and appeared to be wobbling from left to right. Jason’s son thought that it was spinning. A plane came from the east travelling towards the object. As it approached, Jason lost sight of it. It is possible that it had gone into a patch of cloud. Under a minute later, once the plane had passed, he then spotted the object again travelling in front of the cloud. It appeared to be very high at this point but could still be seen glinting in the sunlight. He watched it for a further 30 seconds until it was out of sight.

9th May 2009 Sighting

On Saturday 9th May Jason was at work till 5.30pm. He came home and went into the kitchen where he met his son. He jokingly said to him “They’re out there Ben” (Name changed for privacy reasons). At 5.55pm they both went out into the back yard, and when they looked up they saw a glowing white object, the same appearance as Jason’s previous sightings. They watched it for several minutes as it rose up into the sky until it was out of sight.

While they were watching the UFO, Jason’s neighbours were outside too setting up a BBQ. Shortly after the sighting they asked Jason what he had been looking at. As he described to them what had been in the sky, the object reappeared directly over their houses at a high altitude! For the next 90 minutes they all watched the UFO. At six different times it disappeared and then reappeared at different places in the sky. Jason managed to capture some video footage of the object (I am still awaiting a working copy or direct link to this). Everyone present was convinced that the object was something unusual and not a balloon. I am awaiting further details on this sighting.

11th May 2009 Sighting

Two days later when Jason left the depot where he works, he looked up into the sky and noticed a similar object again. He checked for it when he got home but could no longer see it. Jason is now convinced that the objects are watching him in some way. I am awaiting further details on this sighting.

26th July 2009 Sighting

On this occasion, Jason managed to film 8 UFOs glowing deep orange in the sky, despite the fact it was still relatively light. There is certainly the potential that in this instance the objects are Chinese lanterns, however there are a number of points which may suggest otherwise. Firstly it was still daylight, as can be seen from the footage, and lanterns are usually lit after dark. Jason watched the objects for nearly an hour before they were lost from view, this seems a very long time, lanterns tend to burn out after 30-45 minutes. Also Jason believes the objects were too high in the sky to be lanterns, he estimates they were about the same height a passenger jet would fly at. I am awaiting further details on this sighting from the witness.

20th September 2009 Sighting

Due to the number of sightings he seems to be having, Jason decided it would be interesting to see if he could get one of them to appear using his thought. It was a bright Sunday afternoon and he was preparing for his daughters birthday party round his house. He stepped out into the back garden and spoke to the beings directly in his mind. He told them he believed in them and knew they were there. He asked them to bless him with a sighting as it had been a while since his last one. He chose a place in the sky he would like them to appear in. Then he suddenly felt a strange vibration throughout his body but saw nothing appear in the sky. He went inside to get a drink.

When he returned outside it was 3.50pm. He looked up and there it was! A glowing white oval shaped object similar to those he had seen numerous times before. As previously described in other sightings, the object looked like it was wobbling left and right. Jason compares it to how a spinning plate on a stick wobbles as it begins to slow down. The object was up very high in the sky, he estimates about 30-35000 feet and within a 1/3 mile of his position. Jason went to grab his camera. He couldn’t film the object straight away because he found it hard to locate due to glare from the sunlight. He watched the object for at least 7 minutes in total. After this it seemed to rise vertically into the sky until it was out of sight.

Below are a couple of clips from the video footage which Jason has uploaded onto the internet. The fast moving object in the final clip is not the UFO, it’s an aeroplane, the object had disappeared behind a cloud at this point and he was trying to spot it again.

Later about Jason told the son of his cousin who was at the party about the sighting he had had earlier. The boy laughed at him, so he again asked for another sighting to take place. Shortly afterwards about 6.00pm the object reappeared in the sky over his house, and the boy was astounded! Again the object was very high up, was turning and wobbling as it did before, and rose up vertically out of sight over about 5 minutes. Jason did not film the object this time, he just stood there watching it with the boy.

3rd July 2010 Sighting

Around 3pm on the afternoon of 3rd July 2010, Jason was out in his back garden and scanning the sky in the hopes of spotting something out of the ordinary. It was a sunny day with patchy cloud, and there was a breeze in a Northerly direction. He suddenly caught sight of an object glinting in the sky. It appeared to be metallic and reflecting the sunlight,causing it to glow white. It looked to be about a quarter of a mile from his location and higher than the clouds, over 10000 feet up. At first it appeared to be roughly circular in shape, and was descending slowly. It then appeared to reverse its movement and started to gain in altitude.

Jason quickly went inside and grabbed his camera, before returning to the garden. The object was still present but was now higher than it had been when he had originally saw it. He began taking many photographs of the object, as well as video footage. As he watched, it appeared to once again descend in front of some cloud and change in shape, elongating into more of an upright cigar. It then became less distinct and was obscured behind some cloud. He had watched the object for about 3-4 minutes in total. Soon after this, Jason spotted the same or a similar object much further away to the East of his location.

Jason feels that the object was under control and not drifting, as it appeared to move independantly of the wind direction in a very controlled and unsual manner. After the sighting he told his wife about what he had seen.

4th photo – The UFO is once again less distinct, and no longer looks like numerous objects clumped together:

5th photo – The object appears to be more distant now, and is even less distinct. After this point, Jason informed me that it became obscured behind the nearby cloud:

After analysing the photographs and video footage that Jason took, I believe that the UFO was actually a number of smaller objects clumped together. This is clearly visible in the below images taken from the 3rd photo displayed above:

Despite the unusual movement pattern observed, I feel that a number of metallic/white balloons tied together may have been responsible for this sighting. Perhaps these were being caught in different air currents at high altitude, giving the impression that they were under control and purposely descending/ascending. It also appears from the photographic sequence that the objects may have approached the location of the witness, before moving further away. This would explain how the initial and end photos were indistinct but the ones half way through the sequence show the objects more clearly, and it is only here that the fact there are multiple objects can be seen. This movement could be put down to changing wind directions, and does not necessarily suggest that they were under control.

4th July 2010 Sighting

On 6.30pm of the following evening after sighting the reflective UFO, Jason and his wife witnessed something else! They were outside when they suddenly noticed two reflective/white objects in the sky above their house. These objects were observed for up to a minute, and rose quickly until they had disappeared from sight. Sadly Jason did not have his camera with him at the time, so was unable to capture the objects on film.

It is very interesting that Jason had two sightings only a day apart from each other. If the object(s) seen on the 3rd were not balloons, then perhaps this was them returning to the area a second time. Alternatively it could have been just coincedence that these two sightings occured so close to one another. Without film of this sighting it is hard to really say what these two objects could have been. Their appearance seems similar to many of Jason's other sightings, but there were no clear intelligent manouvres performed, so this incident could perhaps again easily be put down to something mundane. But there is also the possibility they were something much more unusual.

Conclusion

Could it be possible that Jason is an ongoing witness to alien craft returning to the same area time and time again? Aspects of at least some of the objects seen are hard to explain. Their appearance and movement patterns seem to dismiss most explanations. They are clearly not aeroplanes or helicopters. From the various bits of video footage they look like oval-shaped objects which are either glowing white, or silver and reflecting sunlight. Jason says that through binoculars, they look more saucer-shaped with domes on top and underneath. Their movement patterns appear too unusual to be balloons, and in some of the sightings very direct and controlled. If the objects being filmed are balloons of some kind, why do they keep appearing in the same area? The video segments certainly look genuine, and just because Jason is the only person to contact us about the sightings it does not mean that others have not also seen them. He has stated that his wife, son and neighbours have been present at some of the sightings.

If the objects really are unknown craft, why do they keep returning to the same place? Jason theorises that they are looking out for something, or regularly checking up on something in that location. Could they be interacting with him in some way? He suggests this as a possibility – this would explain why he has had so many sightings. Also with his most recent sighting he appeared to have caused the appearance of the object by thought projection. And what can be made of the helicopter filmed shortly after the object departed on 15th September 2007? Was someone else in the area aware of the presence of the UFO and attempting to track it?

At this point we do not have any explanation for the presence of the objects in the skies over Saint Helens. It seems likely that Jason will see and hopefully video tape the objects again, if he reports any more sightings or sends more footage then this report will be updated as necessary.

He told them he believed in them and knew they were there. He asked them to bless him with a sighting as it had been a while since his last one. He chose a place in the sky he would like them to appear in. Then he suddenly felt a strange vibration throughout his body but saw nothing appear in the sky. He went inside to get a drink.

When he returned outside it was 3.50pm. He looked up and there it was! A glowing white oval shaped object similar to those he had seen numerous times before. As previously described in other sightings, the object looked like it was wobbling left and right. Jason compares it to how a spinning plate on a stick wobbles as it begins to slow down. The object was up very high in the sky, he estimates about 30-35000 feet and within a 1/3 mile of his position. Jason went to grab his camera. He couldn’t film the object straight away because he found it hard to locate due to glare from the sunlight. He watched the object for at least 7 minutes in total. After this it seemed to rise vertically into the sky until it was out of sight.

Below are a couple of clips from the video footage which Jason has uploaded onto the internet. The fast moving object in the final clip is not the UFO, it’s an aeroplane, the object had disappeared behind a cloud at this point and he was trying to spot it again.

Later about Jason told the son of his cousin who was at the party about the sighting he had had earlier. The boy laughed at him, so he again asked for another sighting to take place. Shortly afterwards about 6.00pm the object reappeared in the sky over his house, and the boy was astounded! Again the object was very high up, was turning and wobbling as it did before, and rose up vertically out of sight over about 5 minutes. Jason did not film the object this time, he just stood there watching it with the boy.

3rd July 2010 Sighting

Around 3pm on the afternoon of 3rd July 2010, Jason was out in his back garden and scanning the sky in the hopes of spotting something out of the ordinary. It was a sunny day with patchy cloud, and there was a breeze in a Northerly direction. He suddenly caught sight of an object glinting in the sky. It appeared to be metallic and reflecting the sunlight,causing it to glow white. It looked to be about a quarter of a mile from his location and higher than the clouds, over 10000 feet up. At first it appeared to be roughly circular in shape, and was descending slowly. It then appeared to reverse its movement and started to gain in altitude.

Jason quickly went inside and grabbed his camera, before returning to the garden. The object was still present but was now higher than it had been when he had originally saw it. He began taking many photographs of the object, as well as video footage. As he watched, it appeared to once again descend in front of some cloud and change in shape, elongating into more of an upright cigar. It then became less distinct and was obscured behind some cloud. He had watched the object for about 3-4 minutes in total. Soon after this, Jason spotted the same or a similar object much further away to the East of his location.

Jason feels that the object was under control and not drifting, as it appeared to move independantly of the wind direction in a very controlled and unsual manner. After the sighting he told his wife about what he had seen.

5th photo – The object appears to be more distant now, and is even less distinct. After this point, Jason informed me that it became obscured behind the nearby cloud:

After analysing the photographs and video footage that Jason took, I believe that the UFO was actually a number of smaller objects clumped together. This is clearly visible in the below images taken from the 3rd photo displayed above:

Despite the unusual movement pattern observed, I feel that a number of metallic/white balloons tied together may have been responsible for this sighting. Perhaps these were being caught in different air currents at high altitude, giving the impression that they were under control and purposely descending/ascending. It also appears from the photographic sequence that the objects may have approached the location of the witness, before moving further away. This would explain how the initial and end photos were indistinct but the ones half way through the sequence show the objects more clearly, and it is only here that the fact there are multiple objects can be seen. This movement could be put down to changing wind directions, and does not necessarily suggest that they were under control.

4th July 2010 Sighting

On 6.30pm of the following evening after sighting the reflective UFO, Jason and his wife witnessed something else! They were outside when they suddenly noticed two reflective/white objects in the sky above their house. These objects were observed for up to a minute, and rose quickly until they had disappeared from sight. Sadly Jason did not have his camera with him at the time, so was unable to capture the objects on film.

It is very interesting that Jason had two sightings only a day apart from each other. If the object(s) seen on the 3rd were not balloons, then perhaps this was them returning to the area a second time. Alternatively it could have been just coincedence that these two sightings occured so close to one another. Without film of this sighting it is hard to really say what these two objects could have been. Their appearance seems similar to many of Jason's other sightings, but there were no clear intelligent manouvres performed, so this incident could perhaps again easily be put down to something mundane. But there is also the possibility they were something much more unusual.

Conclusion

Could it be possible that Jason is an ongoing witness to alien craft returning to the same area time and time again? Aspects of at least some of the objects seen are hard to explain. Their appearance and movement patterns seem to dismiss most explanations. They are clearly not aeroplanes or helicopters. From the various bits of video footage they look like oval-shaped objects which are either glowing white, or silver and reflecting sunlight. Jason says that through binoculars, they look more saucer-shaped with domes on top and underneath. Their movement patterns appear too unusual to be balloons, and in some of the sightings very direct and controlled. If the objects being filmed are balloons of some kind, why do they keep appearing in the same area? The video segments certainly look genuine, and just because Jason is the only person to contact us about the sightings it does not mean that others have not also seen them. He has stated that his wife, son and neighbours have been present at some of the sightings.

If the objects really are unknown craft, why do they keep returning to the same place? Jason theorises that they are looking out for something, or regularly checking up on something in that location. Could they be interacting with him in some way? He suggests this as a possibility – this would explain why he has had so many sightings. Also with his most recent sighting he appeared to have caused the appearance of the object by thought projection. And what can be made of the helicopter filmed shortly after the object departed on 15th September 2007? Was someone else in the area aware of the presence of the UFO and attempting to track it?

At this point we do not have any explanation for the presence of the objects in the skies over Saint Helens. It seems likely that Jason will see and hopefully video tape the objects again, if he reports any more sightings or sends more footage then this report will be updated as necessary.

July 2010 - Camberwell, London - Disc UFO Sighting

Sighting Details

In July 2010 Simon (name changed for privacy reasons) was at Kings College Hospital in Camberwell, London to have a frame removed from his leg. His bed was on the 3rd floor of the Cheyne Wing in one of the children's wards. While he was recovering from the operation, his mother came to visit. It was the afternoon between 1.00-2.30pm and they were watching TV together. Outside it was a relatively clear sunny day, with patchy cloud cover.

Suddenly an object in the sky visible through the window caught Simon's attention. He looked out and could see what looked like a black coloured disc-shaped object hovering still in the air. It had smoothed curved edges and he could see no markings on it at all. It looked quite far away from their location and was higher than the building he was in. Simon immediately felt it was an alien craft, as he regularly watches programmes on UFOs.

Almost immediately Simon told his mother about the object, who was sitting alongside the bed She looked out and also saw it, but for some reason she felt it was silver in colour not black. After 10 seconds suddenly the disc completely vanished without trace. Simon feels sure it did not get obscured from view behind a cloud as it was a relatively clear day.

They continued to watch out of the window to see if the object would return, but it did not. Simon discussed the sighting with him mum, she was surprised but not bothered by what she had seen. Later Simon told a few other family members and one of the nurses at the hospital.

Sighting Analysis

This is an intriguing sighting, and certain aspects of it are quite hard to explain. The object could not have been a plane as it was hovering completely still for 10 seconds. Due to its appearance it is unlikely to have been a helicopter. It could possibly have been an inflatable of some kind, as it was hard to judge its exact size and distance. However this does not explain how it was able to suddenly vanish. Surely if it was a balloon it would have remained visible in the sky? The fact that Simon saw the object as black in colour, but his mother thought it was silver is regardless and can be put down to interpretation. This difference in opinion was probably due to light reflecting off the object or shadows cast by it, so which of these colours is correct cannot really be determined. The fact that the object suddenly vanished without trace points towards it being a genuine sighting of an advanced craft rather than something mundane.

July 2010 - Rawmarsh, Rotherham - Flying Triangle Sighting

This report covers a sighting of a black triangular shaped UFO with an interesting lighting configuration, which was seen by a man in Rawmarsh, Rotherham in July 2010. It is a great example of how unexplained craft can be seen anywhere, at any time.

Sighting Details

The witness, Shaun, was sitting in the living room of his second storey flat on Dawson Avenue and watching TV. It was about 10pm in the evening. Suddenly he noticed some huge yellow lights up in the sky visible from the window of the room. Shaun jumped to his feet to see where the lights were coming from. It was a clear night and the stars were visible. Towards the South he could see seven large round yellow lights in a crown-like pattern, three above with four below them. They appeared to be attached to the side/rear of a very large object. Shaun estimates it was about the size of a football pitch. As it was dark it was hard to initially make out the shape of the object, all he could see clearly were the yellow lights. It appeared to be between 150-200 feet in the air.

The UFO was moving across the sky horizontally on a level course about a mile away from him. Shaun estimates it was moving between 100-200 mph. After it had flown several hundred feet across the sky, it started to turn until it was heading towards his location. Shaun quickly ran to get his mobile phone as he wanted to get a photograph of what he was witnessing. He returned to the window and found that the object was still on approach. As it did so, he began to see more of the underside of the craft and the yellow lights became obscured from view. It was now that he realised that the object was a large triangular-shaped craft. The main body of the craft was completely black, he could see no markings on it. On the underside he saw a number of white lights around the edges and a red light in the centre. He was amazed at what he was witnessing.

As it passed overhead he leaned out of the flat window to take a photograph on his phone's camera. Unfortunately because it was dark and the main body of the craft appeared black it did not show up very clearly, all he managed to catch was one of the lights underneath. The craft moved out of sight over the roof of the flat. Shaun ran through to the dining room on the opposite side, and stared out of the window expecting to see the craft reappear. If it had continued on the same course it should have been visible but it was gone, it was almost like it had vanished or left the area while over the roof of the flat.

Shaun felt that what he had seen was an extraterrestrial craft, although he says it could possibly have been military in origin. After the sighting he told his mum about what he had seen, and she believed him.

Sighting Analysis

This is a very interesting sighting, and likely to be a genuine sighting of a "Flying Triangle" craft. Craft of this type have been seen all around the world, especially over recent decades. The apparent huge size of the object, its shape and colour have been described many times before. The particular lighting configuration Shaun describes is not common, although there can be many variations of lighting seen.

The lighting was unlike any known normal or military aircraft, and the huge size of the craft suggests it was something out of the ordinary. Some people believe that Flying Triangles are an ongoing secret military project, however I do not go along with this viewpoint. The craft often display advanced manoeuvring capabilities, they can hover silently or move extremely fast with instant acceleration. Sometimes, as with this case, they can be extremely large in size, and there are also a number of cases where ET beings have been seen in close proximity to this type of craft while landed or at low altitude. Also these craft can be seen anywhere, including over highly populated towns. It is extremely unlikely that if the military were behind them, they would fly them in plain sight of the public. Therefore I conclude that this was more than likely an advanced craft of extraterrestrial origin.

Summer 2010 - Mablethorpe - White Orbs Sighting

Sighting Details

Late on an evening in summer 2010 (exact date unknown), Phil Kew was staring out of the bedroom window of his house on Rutland Road, Mablethorpe. It was a clear night with very little cloud cover, and he was gazing at the stars. At about 11.30pm to the South he noticed to the right of his vision a white star-like light moving slowly towards the East. It was hard to tell exactly how far away it was but it was moving on a level course much slower than a passenger jet would fly at. The light was of a constant brightness. Phil was intrigued by the object and watched it for 2 minutes until it had vanished from sight.

He continued to stare out of the window. After about 2 minutes another white light appeared in the same area of sky where the first had initially been. This time it was moving towards his location in a Northward direction, but looked identical to the first and acted the same.

Over the next half an hour he saw at least 8 objects. They always moved on a straight course, appeared identical to each other, but tended to move in different directions. Initially he thought they were planes but soon realised they were moving too slow and looked different to how aircraft would normally appear. As he watched them he thought about ringing his sister who lives nearby, but he felt it was too late at night and she would have gone to bed.

Phil wonders if what he saw was the same object moving back and forth across the sky rather than numerous separate objects.

Sighting Analysis

Regarding the one/many question, I feel it is more likely that the lights were numerous individual objects rather than the same one continuously vanishing from sight then reappearing. Due to the number of objects seen and regularity of their movement I feel that it is unlikely the objects were craft of some kind.

Could the objects have just been satellites orbiting the Earth? Phil feels that they were in the atmosphere rather than out in space, but the appearance and movement pattern observed does fit with this potentially being the explanation. However most people would know how to recognise satellites, so I feel it is more probable they were something else.

If they were in the atmosphere, the lights could well have been a number of white LED balloons. These are electronically lit inflatables that come in a variety of sizes and shapes. They could have been launched from a nearby celebration. The objects did move in different directions, but perhaps this was down to changing wind direction. The slow speed and straight paths of the objects is reminiscent of how LED balloons or Chinese lanterns act when caught in an air current. I feel this is the most likely explanation for what was seen.

Summer 2010 - Reddich - Flying Triangle Sighting

In the summer of 2010 a family from Reddich all had an encounter with a large triangular shaped UFO. In April 2011 the father of the family decided to get in touch with BUFOG to share this experience. This report covers the incident in detail.

Sighting Details

It was between 10pm and midnight on a warm clear night in the summer of 2010. The stars were fully visible in the sky overhead. Robert, his wife Julia and sons Tim and Alex were out in the back garden of their house on Lime Tree Crescent. Suddenly Alex spotted something up in the sky. He pointed at it and asked “What’s that?”

The family all looked up and were amazed to see a large black triangular shaped object. It was quite low down, about 50 feet up, and had appeared over the roofs of neighbouring houses on Ash Tree Road, North of their position. It looked to be quite big in size, at least 30 feet across. There were no visible markings on the surface of the object it just looked completely black. At the front of it were three white lights - one at the front point and one either side of it. The object appeared quite flattened but due to the angle it was hard to tell the depth of it accurately.

The object was moving slowly, moving at between 10-20 mph, and travelling on a straight and level course. It was completely silent. It approached them and flew right over their heads. As it did, it blocked out the stars in the sky above. Once it was past it was no longer very visible as there were no lights on the rear of the object. The object headed off in the direction of Reddich town centre.

The family realised that it wasn't a normal aircraft of any kind due to the shape and the lighting on it. They did not tell anyone else about the incident afterwards as they felt they wouldn't be believed anyway.

Sighting Analysis

This is a stunning sighting of what was probably a Flying Triangle craft. The object seems too large to have been a model or inflatable of some kind. It could not have been mistaken identity of a military craft such as a stealth bomber. It was completely triangular in shape, was moving too slowly to have been this, the lighting configuration was unlike any known aircraft, and was also completely silent. At the low altitude the object was seen at the family would have been able to hear the noise of jet engines if there was any. Could it have been a secret military aircraft of some kind? Again this seems very unlikely, why would they fly such a craft over a highly populated town at low altitude?

The lighting seen on the object was quite unusual. Usually Flying Triangles are seen to have a light at each corner and a larger central light, or have small lights all around the edges. But this craft had several lights at the front, and none elsewhere on it. I am not sure whether I have heard of any FT sightings with this lighting before, I certainly haven’t investigated any personally. However there are a large variety of ET craft, in much the same way that we have a large variety of aircraft. And perhaps the craft had some of its lights switched off at the time for whatever reason, this is always a possibility.

The fact that the whole family saw the object means it was clearly a solid object of some kind. It is possible that there were other witnesses to this FT as it was moving slowly at low altitude over the town. If you believe you too may have seen it please get in touch.

24/06/2010 - Bromsgrove - White Orb UFO Sighting

Sighting Details

Late evening on 24th June 2010, Simon Richards and his partner Johanne McAuley had just headed up to bed in their house on Cobham Close, Charford, Bromsgrove. It was a still and clear night with very little cloud in the sky. At about 11.10pm as they were about to settle down to sleep, they heard the sound of a low flying helicopter coming from the North West. This happens every week or so, and because he was still awake Simon got out of bed to take a look and see where it was heading. He looked out of the bedroom window and saw the unmistakeable white, red and blue lights at about 300 feet in the sky.

The helicopter went out of sight, so Simon walked through to his son’s bedroom to continue watching it as it moved away from their location. The window in his son’s room was ajar, and he could easily make out the whirring noise of the helicopter. It moved away to the South East. He was just about to put the blinds down on the window and return to bed, when another light in the sky caught his attention. It looked like a single orb of glowing white light. There was no shape distinguishable behind the light. The object was moving at a constant speed and heading towards his location. Simon was puzzled by this light, so after about 20 seconds called Johanne to also take a look at the object. She came to the window, and both witnesses continued to watch the light as it moved closer.

As it got near, it could no longer be seen from the window where they were. Simon decided to run downstairs and out into the back garden to continue observing it. The object was still present and moving away from the area on the same course. It was a quiet night, and there was no sound coming from the object at all. After about 15 seconds it vanished into the distance, or may have been obscured by some cloud. Simon went back inside and briefly discussed the sighting with Johanne. They both agreed it was strange, but then decided to settle down to sleep.

Sighting Analysis

This is an interesting sighting and not one which we can give a conclusive answer to. It seems unlikely the object was a conventional aircraft, these usually have other coloured lights on. Also the object appeared to be completely silent and did not look like it was a very high altitude. Perhaps it was a secret military craft/drone of some kind, but if so it is improbable that they would have flown it right over a populated city. It appeared to be too bright and large to be a satellite, and was moving too slow to be a meteorite. There is a slim chance that it was an earth light, though these do not usually appear over urbanised areas. It is very unlikely to have been ball lightning as the weather was clear.

I feel that the most likely explanation for the object was either a white LED balloon or a Chinese lantern. LED balloons are helium filled balloons that are internally lit electronically. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and the larger ones are sometimes even remote controlled. Chinese lanterns are paper lanterns that are lit from within and float up into the sky. At a distance appear as glowing orbs of light. Even though they are usually a fiery orange/yellow colour, they can also occasionally glow pure white. Both LED balloons and Chinese lanterns tend to get caught in air currents and drift across the sky on a straight path, exactly how Simon described.

As with many UFO sightings, there is no definite answer on what the object was, and it shall more than likely remain a mystery.

22/06/2010 - Wordsley - Silver Sphere UFOs Sighting

Sighting Details

On 22nd June 2010, BUFOG member Martin Mitchell, his wife and eldest son had a sighting of two UFOs in the area of Wordsley. It was 5.47pm and the three witnesses were in the back garden of their house on Hope Street. It was a sunny and warm evening, with a clear sky, so they had decided to eat outside around the patio table.

Suddenly Martin noticed two objects in the sky to the North of their position. The objects were spherical in shape and silver in colour. They looked smooth surfaced and were reflecting the sunlight. The objects were quite close to each other, and were positioned diagonally. They looked to be about 3 miles away and were about 500 feet high. They were moving slowly towards his location. Martin estimates they were moving about 30mph but this was hard to judge. He pointed out the objects to his wife and son.

About 30 seconds after first sighting the UFOs, Martin decided to run and get his digital camera to take a photo of them. He went into the house, grabbed the camera and headed back outside. The objects were still approaching slowly. He snapped a photograph of them and then continued to watch with his wife and son. The objects began to arc around in a curve slowly, until they were travelling at 90 degrees to their original direction and moving off to the East towards Hinley/Gormal. After this they then began to slowly ascend in altitude. The witnesses continued to watch until the objects vanished from sight into the distance. In total the sighting lasted for about 5 minutes.

Sighting Analysis

This sighting has some interesting aspects to it. The appearance of the objects and their proximity to one another make it highly unlikely that they were conventional aircraft of any kind.

But could they perhaps of been balloons or inflatables? Both Martin and myself believe that the objects performed manouvres which suggest that they were under control rather than randomly drifting. It was a relatively still evening with only a slight breeze. If they were balloons they would more than likely have ascended throughout the sighting not just towards the end of it. Also I find it unlikely they would have moved round in an arc as they did, and would have just continued on a straight course in the direction of the wind. There is also the fact that the objects appeared to be flying in tandem, and retained the same distance from one another throughout the sighting. Obviously balloons cannot be fully ruled out as an explanation, but the movement patterns exhibited suggest otherwise.

Reports of spherical silver coloured craft have been reported all around the world for many years. Could this incident have been a genuine sighting of two such objects?

29/05/2010 - Bletchley - Orange Orbs Sighting

As you may well be aware, sightings of orange orbs/lights are reported regularly all around the UK. Many of these turn out to be nothing more than Chinese lanterns – large paper lanterns that are lit from inside and drift up into the night sky for up to 45 minutes. However, occasionally these sightings contain interesting aspects, which perhaps point to a less mundane explanation. This could be the case with this incident, which occurred on 29th May 2010 in Bletchley, Milton Keynes.

Sighting Details

At 9.45pm, witness Scott Humphries was on his way back home from a late evening shop at Tesco’s. It was fully dark, with partial cloud cover. Scott could make out stars in the gaps between the clouds, but the moon was not visible. There was a light breeze blowing in a Westerly direction. As he was driving along Manor Road, he suddenly noticed three orange orbs of light in the sky ahead and to the left of his car. They were a deep orange colour and were brighter than the streetlights. They looked almost like rings, glowing orange but with a darker centre. The 3 lights were arranged in a straight line from each other. Scott estimates they were about 1500-2000 feet high and were each about the size of a car. They appeared to be moving at a slow speed.

Scott at first thought that they must be helicopters. He had both seen and launched lanterns before, and felt that these lights were something else entirely. He reached the roundabout between Manor Road and Stoke Road. The lights were now almost directly overhead, just slightly to the South East of his position. He decided to pull into a lay-by and get out to get a better view of them. Two other cars also pulled up to watch what was taking place.

By this time the 3 lights had re-arranged into a triangular shape, and were now completely stationary.

Then from the West came 3 more lights, again in a completely straight line. They appeared to be moving at a fast speed, equivalent to that of a plane. As they approached they appeared to be at the same altitude as the initial 3 lights. After about 20 seconds they had got quite close and suddenly increased in altitude and seemed to position themselves in an identical triangular pattern above the other 3 lights.

After a number of seconds, without warning the upper triangle of lights suddenly began moving off to the East at a fast constant speed in the direction of Brickhill Woods. All 3 lights began moving at the same time and held the same position to one another. Scott believes that they reached a speed of up to 750mph. A couple of seconds later, the initial group of 3 lights also began moving away in the same direction, again maintaining their positioning. After about 10 seconds, just before they reached the woods, all 6 lights made a right angle turn and rose straight upwards into the clouds.

In total the sighting lasted for a few minutes. Scott was amazed by what he had just seen. He did not talk to the 3 other people who had also stopped, and instead continued his journey home. He felt a little frightened by what had taken place.

Sighting Analysis

Obviously the movement pattern of the objects seen in this sighting is the most important aspect, and what point towards them being something other than just lanterns. The way that the objects seem to arrange themselves into symmetrical triangles and straight lines is interesting. Also the fact that some of the objects remained stationary while others approached at speed, before all six moved away seems unnatural. They appeared to be moving against the direction of the wind, and there is also the right angle turn towards the end of the sighting to consider.

However I do wonder if these apparent intelligent manouvres were just caused by unusual air currents. Perhaps the objects were lower and therefore slower and smaller than they appeared to be. In the sky there is no point of reference so it can be very hard to judge the distance of objects. Perhaps the wind was in a different direction at high altitude than it was at ground level. Multiple lanterns will often arrange themselves into a straight line as they are carried by the wind, so this aspect could be easily explained. As for the triangular formations – perhaps after drifting for a while, the objects entered a pocket of stiller air, which would have given them the opportunity to drift randomly. Could the triangular patterns have just been a coincedence? Obviously the objects would not have appeared in a symmetrical triangular formation if viewed from a different angle. When the lights appeared to move away from the area at the same time, they could possibly have just been caught by a sudden gust of wind. Lanterns naturally drift upwards when not being blown sideways. So perhaps when it looked like they had made a right angle turn and moved up into the clouds, they had really just entered a much stiller area and then had a chance to rise until out of sight.

The lights were certainly not conventional aircraft of any kind, and clearly could not have been meteorites, satellites or earth lights. Taking everything into account, I feel that this sighting can most likely be put down to Chinese lanterns caught in unusual wind conditions. However I still find the movements interesting, along with the fact that the witness had previously seen what lanterns look like, and insists these were something else.

It is also interesting to note that this sighting took place in the same area of Milton Keynes as where repeat contactee Simon had a number of his experiences (See top of 2008 Sightings section for this report).

28/05/2010 - Wombourne - Metallic Oblong UFO Sighting

Dave Rose from Wombourne, South Staffordshire, has a keen interest in the UFO subject and is a regular on the BUFOG forum. Towards the end of May he had a brief but intriguing sighting of a strange aerial object.

Sighting Details

Late morning at 11.20am on 28th May, Dave was walking along the brook towards the Wombourne Common close to his house. The common lies alongside the disused railway line. It was a sunny and clear day, with a few scattered clouds in the sky.

Dave suddenly saw an oblong shaped object glint in the sunlight. It was almost a square, but an extra 1/3 taller than the width. It looked like it was metallic and possibly pale brown in colour. It appeared to be about 400 yards to the North of his position, over the common, and Dave estimates it was about the size of a double decker bus. He believes it was about 150 feet in the air. He only caught a glimpse of the object for a fraction of a second, but it appeared to be travelling at a very fast speed, heading in an Easterly direction.

Dave realised that the object could not have been a normal aircraft because of its shape and how low it was to the ground. He continued to look at the sky for several minutes, but the object had vanished. He wondered how it had disappeared so quickly. He had a digital camera in his rucksack at the time, but of course the object vanished much too fast for him to have got a photograph of it.

Sighting Analysis

This is a bizarre sighting and one which is certainly interesting. The odd straight-edged shape of the object certainly points towards it not being a conventional aircraft or helicopter of any type. Also if it was an aircraft, it surely would have been visible for longer. Sometimes aircraft can only be seen when the sun momentarily glints off them, but in this situation the aircraft would be very distant. The object Dave saw appeared much closer to his position.

The object appeared much too large to be a kite/balloon of some kind. And once again if this was the explanation, it would have remained visible.

It is a shame that Dave only caught a brief glimpse of the object, if it had been seen for longer he may have been able to get a clearer view of it or even snap a photo. It is possible that the object was moving at an extremely fast speed and had disappeared from the area almost immediately. Alternatively it could have disappeared via some other means.

Due to the briefness of the sighting, we cannot be certain of what was seen or not seen, but the shape of the object certainly points towards it being something artificial rather than natural.

This report covers a fascinating close encounter with a boomerang-shaped UFO which took place in Bedlington, Northumberland in May 2010, and may well have occurred directly as a result of something the witness was doing at the time.

Sighting Details

In May 2010 Jane Davison from Bedlington, Northumberland bought an astronomy lazer pointer, a device which shines a bright green lazer light into the air allowing individual stars to be pointed out. She did this after watching some night-time clips on the internet where UFOs were apparently vectored in by one of these lazer pointers, and could be seen flashing in the night sky. She wanted to give it a go herself, and hoped to get some kind of response.

Early in the morning of 12th May, Jane was watching some TV after a late shift at work at her home on Windsor Gardens. Her family were asleep upstairs. It was the first clear night since she had bought the lazer pointer, so she then decided to head out into her back garden to try it out for the first time. It was now about 1.20am.

It was very peaceful outside and there were no aircraft in the sky, so it was safe to use the pointer. She aimed it up into the sky and shone it a couple of times. Suddenly she heard a very quiet and low pitch noise in her right ear. It sounded similar to someone swinging a cord around in circles. She turned towards the sound, expecting a flock of birds to be the cause of the strange sound. Instead she was greeted by an incredible sight.

There hovering over her neighbours garden was a black boomerang-shaped object. It was about 50 feet in width, and had five equally spaced green glowing lights on its underside, which were not very bright. Its surface was smooth, and it had curved edges with no sharp corners. It was level with the roof of the house, and was only about 30-40 feet away from her position. It appeared to be sideways on to her. Jane immediately assumed this object was an advanced craft of some kind. She also felt sure it had arrived in response to her shining the lazer pointer.

Jane froze to the spot in fear, she was absolutely terrified by the sudden appearance of this unusual craft and its proximity to her. Even though she had a camera in the house, she did not think about this at all, her prime concern was for the safety of her family. The craft remained completely motionless, and continued to make the strange whirring noise. After about 5-8 seconds, it turned through 45 degrees away from her to the South over 4 seconds. It did this without changing position or tilting at all. At this point Jane forced herself to move and quickly ran back inside the house. She remained inside and did not go back out, so has no way of knowing how long the craft remained in the area or how it left.

Jane immediately woke her husband up, hysterically telling him about what she had just witnessed. He refused to get up out of bed, and there was no way Jane could get to sleep after what she had seen. She instead decided to phone her work place. She knew her work mate Nick was on the night shift. He picked up the phone and she excitedly went on to explain what had happened. She said to him “Nick you have to be my witness. If I go missing, at least someone knows what’s happened to me!” She was terrified that the craft may still be outside and may decide to take her. Jane’s husband heard the noise of the call and came downstairs to see who she was talking to.

Jane remained awake for the rest of the night. At 3am she rang Nick back to thank him and let him know she was ok. She was too frightened to look back out of the window until the sun came up. Later in the morning she spoke to her neighbours. They said they had not heard or seen anything.

The craft had been extremely close, and looking back on the incident, Jane wishes she had reacted more calmly and taken some photographs of it. The sighting has changed her life in numerous ways, and Jane now has a new found perspective on the reality of UFOs and extraterrestrials.

Sighting Analysis

This is a truly incredible incident, and one which I believe definitely took place. The witness sounds completely trustworthy and has nothing to gain by sharing her experience with me. Firstly it seems very likely that this was a genuine sighting of an ET craft. Its appearance was completely different to any known conventional aircraft, and it was capable of remaining stationary and turning on the spot. It also managed to arrive without the witness noticing, and emitted only a faint sound, one that has been reported numerous times before. It is very unlikely to have been some kind of inflatable object, not only due to the green lights along it but also the circumstances under which it appeared. It seems too large to have been a remote controlled model, also for what purpose would it have been flown in the middle of the night when it was unlikely anyone would even see it? Could the craft have been a secret military project, not alien? This is of course a possibility, but if it was it is very unlikely they would have flown it over a populated town. I feel therefore that it is likely the craft was extraterrestrial in origin.

The description of the craft sounds very similar to the object which was seen over Phoenix, Arizona on 13th March 1997. The craft in the Phoenix Lights incident was much larger, and it had white lights instead of green, but the shape and lighting configuration were similar. Below is a drawing of the craft seen over Phoenix by one of the witnesses, the similarities are easy to see:

It seems very probable that this craft did arrive directly as a result of Jane using the lazer pointer. Obviously this usually does not happen when these devices are used, otherwise it would be easy to get conclusive proof that UFOs exist. It is possible that this happened by pure chance, perhaps the craft was in the vicinity, the lazer light was noticed and it flew in for a closer look. Or perhaps it was there to observe Jane or her neighbours, and it was just a coincidence that the lazer pointer was being used at the time. The green lights seen under the craft are interesting. This is just a suggestion but could these lights have been changed to this colour in direct response to the green lazer light that Jane was shining into the air?

Whatever the reason for the craft’s appearance that night, this remains an impressive close encounter. Due to the time of night that it took place, there would not have been many people out on the streets, but it is still possible that other witnesses exist. Introduction

Phil Wright from Coventry is a keen astronomer and enjoys taking photographs of the sky , planets and stars. Over time he has both seen and photographed a number of interesting UFOs. He has come to realise that there are certainly strange objects flying around our skies, and for the last five years has regularly scanned the skies with his telescope and camera in the hopes of seeing them. He does this from the back garden of his home on William Bree Road, Eastern Green, Coventry. This report covers each of his UFO sightings and contains photographic analysis of the images he has managed to capture.

04/02/2007 – ORANGE ORB UFO

Sighting Details

At 1.46pm on the 4th February 2007, Phil was out in his back garden and trying out his new Canon eos400d camera with Sigma 105mm ex telephoto lens. The weather was quite cloudy, but there were still patches of blue sky. He suddenly caught sight of a very fast moving bright yellow/orange orb of light. It was moving much faster than a low altitude fighter jet would fly at, and heading on a straight course to the West. It was at an angle of about 20-30 degrees from his position.

Luckily the camera was set up on the tripod and pointing towards the object, and Phil quickly snapped three frames over one second. The object was visible for a further 3 seconds in which time it had covered the entire skyline and disappeared into the horizon. He did not expect to have caught the object due to its speed, but when he checked he found he had managed to capture it on the first two of the three photographs.

Bizarrely, the object appeared at exactly the same position on both the photographs. Phil finds this aspect of the incident very hard to explain – it was almost as if for a fraction of a second the object had halted, perhaps to allow itself to be photographed! He is certain that the two photographs were both genuine and that one was not a copy of the other.

Unfortunately Phil has currently only been able to locate the first photograph of the three, but if he manages to find the others he says he will send them to me for inclusion here.

Photographic Analysis

Sighting Analysis

This is an interesting sighting that defies many explanations. The appearance of the object was very similar to how Chinese lanterns appear. However the object was moving much too fast for it to have been a lantern, even if there was fast wind conditions (Which there wasn’t at ground level). It was also moving too fast to have been a conventional aircraft/helicopter, and as it was the daytime the shape would have been visible. It is possible that it was an earth light, although these would not generally move so fast or travel right across the sky as the object did. Perhaps it was a daylight sighting of a meteorite burning up in the atmosphere. This is probably the most logical explanation for what was seen and photographed. However this does not explain how it appeared at the same position on two separate photographs, unless there was a temporary issue with the camera. There is still a chance it was something much more unusual travelling on an intentional course.

17/03/2007 – METALLIC FLOWER-SHAPED UFO

Sighting Details

It was 2.30pm on 17th March 2007, and Phil was once again out in the back garden of his house checking out the sky. It was a mild sunny day, with patchy cloud and a light breeze. He sighted what looked like a bright glinting dot in the sky moving from the South West to the North East. Aiming his camera towards the object he started to take photographs at a rate of 1 a second. Through the telescopic lens he could see that the object appeared to be metallic silver in colour. It was shaped like a flower, with a rounded central section surrounded by petal-like appendages radiating outward. As he watched, these appendages appeared to change position and angle in an unusual way. Within a minute the object had been lost from sight to the East.

Sadly Phil lost most of the photographs he took of this particular object when his laptop stopped working. However he had luckily managed to save a couple of them beforehand. Below is the first photograph:

In this second zoomed photograph, the edge appendages look a little different and less pronounced. Phil says that the other photos showed similar differences as if the outer edges of the object were moving and changing in some way:

Sighting Analysis

Phil admits that the object could have been a balloon, however he did find the apparent movement of the outer sections of the object to be very unusual. This could however have been merely a trick of the light. I agree with Phil, it is certainly possible that the object was a decorative balloon of some kind, although the shape is extremely odd. It was certainly not a conventional aircraft of any kind. It did not perform any interesting manoeuvres which would suggest it was under any form of control.

29/05/2007 – WHITE FLICKERING UFO

Sighting Details

On 29th May 2007 Phil was to witness another strange looking object. It was a very clear day with only light fluffy clouds. At 5.52pm Phil caught sight of a bright, erratically flickering UFO in the sky. The object was moving from South West to North East and appeared to be at very high altitude. It looked like it was white in colour and a very strange shape which was hard to describe. The flickering coming from it was extremely bright and reminded Phil of a welding arc. It was travelling on a straight course at a steady speed similar to that of an aircraft. Phil had his camera at the ready and started taking a photograph every second until the memory card became full.

As the object flew towards the North East horizon, it appeared to get even brighter for a moment, and also seemed to “hang around” for a moment, which suggests it was at very high altitude. Phil has often seen low flying aircraft leaving from Birmingham International airport, and when these reach the horizon they vanish straight away.

There are far too many photographs taken to display all of them, but below are a select number of photographs. As you can see, the object’s shape looks different in each, which suggests it was probably rotating to different angles. Here is an example of how the object appears unzoomed:

Sighting Analysis

This is a truly bizarre looking object. I feel that the most likely explanation is some kind of lightweight material that was caught in an air current and drifting across the sky. Perhaps it was even space debris that was in orbit just outside of the atmosphere. It does not look like a balloon, but neither does it seem to have a definite shape or structure to it which would indicate it was some kind of craft. Phil says it appeared white and had flickering light coming from it. There is the possibility that it was reflecting sunlight at certain angles which would have created this effect.

26/07/2008 – SPINNING DISC-SHAPED UFO

Sighting Details

Late on the evening of 26th July 2009, Phil saw and photographed a strange disc-shaped object in the sky. He first sighted it through binoculars and it appeared as a tiny metallic looking object, with a shape very reminiscent of a “classic” flying saucer. It was not visible with the naked eye due to the distance. It appeared to be at very high altitude and was hardly moving. Phil took about 40 photographs of the object, but when he tried to find it again with his binoculars he had lost sight of it. It had probably headed to the South away from him. When he checked the photos, it appeared that the object had been rocking back and forth and also possibly rotating anti-clockwise.

Sighting Analysis

I feel that the most likely explanation for this particular object is some kind of balloon/inflatable. It appears to be silver in colour. The rocking motion and possible rotation could well be caused by the object being blown in the wind at high altitude. It looks nothing like a conventional aircraft, and did appear to be in the atmosphere, albeit very high up. I do wonder if in fact the object was similar in shape to the UFO Phil saw on 17th March 2007, with a more flower-like shape, but with the appendages beings viewed from the side. The central area of the UFO does not appear smooth, and suggests that it could be oddly shaped.

21/02/2009 – OVAL UFO WITH RED LIGHT

Sighting Details

This sighting occurred around lunchtime on 21st February 2009. It was a moderate temperature with a mostly clear sky, except for a few fast moving clouds. Phil was sweeping the sky with his binoculars when he came across a small intense red light, at an elevation of about 60 degrees. The object appeared to be stationary, with the intensity of the light slightly changing every few seconds.

Phil used his William Optics Megrez72 apo camera with 1.4x Teleconverter and took 25 photographs at 1 second intervals. After about a minute, some high level haze appeared and blocked out the object from sight.

When he checked the photographs on his laptop, Phil could then make out a dark oval-shaped object behind the light. It appeared that the red light was emenating from this object, possibly even coming from an opening in it. It was also possible to see that the object was rotating in an anti-clockwise direction

Sighting Analysis

As Phil has stated, this could well be a balloon/inflatable with LED light attached. It’s constant rotation could be caused by the object drifting in air currents. This is not a definite though, and the rotation of the object could be entirely intentional. The object is clearly not a conventional aircraft of any kind, and it does not look like atmospheric phenomena. If it was some kind of structured flying model it is unlikely it would have been rotating. The most probable explanation is a lit inflatable of some kind.

23/04/2010 – GLOWING ORANGE CYLINDRICAL UFO

Sighting Details

At 5.22pm on 23rd April 2010, Phil caught a glimpse of a stationary flickering amber coloured light to the North from his back garden. It was a clear sunny evening, and the glow coming from the object was immediately apparent. It appeared to be extremely far away as even through his binoculars he could only make out the intense light. He snapped 30 photographs of the object using his telescope and camera setup.

Later when he checked on his laptop, it became clear that the object was cylindrical in shape. Also he found that it appeared to be rotating on the spot.

Sighting Analysis

I feel that the most probable explanation for this sighting is an internally lit balloon of some kind. The object appears too long to be a conventional Chinese lantern, and also these do not tend to rotate completely even if caught in a breeze. However the fact that it was a glowing amber colour and occasionally flickering lead me to believe it had a flame inside of it. It performed no manoeuvres which suggest that it was under control, and its rotation could easily have been caused by it being blown around in an air current. As with most of the other sightings here I cannot give a definite answer to what was seen, but this is the most likely explanation.

09/05/2010 – METALLIC UFO WITH VAPOUR TRAIL

Sighting Details

On the afternoon of 9th May 2010, Phil was out in the back garden of his house. It was 2.15pm and a clear, warm day with a slight breeze and some white cloud cover. He was out with some binoculars and Pointed Handheld Celestron 5 telescope with attached Canon 550d slr camera attached, and was doing a scan of the sky to see if he could spot anything out of the ordinary.

As he looked through his binoculars, he came across a distant object glinting in the sunlight to the North North East. It was hard to judge the size of the object, but it appeared to be high in the atmosphere, at least at airliner cruising altitude. It was at about 45 degrees elevation from his position. It was too distant to visually notice any detail, so he began taking photographs of it through his telescopic camera. He took 25 photos, but then thought to himself that the object was nothing more than a balloon and put his equipment down. A minute later he noticed that the object had moved slightly higher in elevation, so decided to take a further 15 photographs, after which he lost sight of it behind some clouds.

Phil was curious as to what the object could have been, but assumed that when he scanned the photos into his PC it would turn out to be nothing more than a balloon. However he was surprised to find that the object was something much more interesting! It looked like a metallic silver hexagonal or star shaped structure, with a central domed area and a number of appendages sticking out from it. These appendages appeared to have blue lights at their tips. Surrounding the object was a strange looking white vapour trail which appeared to have a particle-like structure to it. Phil had never seen anything like this before.

Throughout the 40 photos that he took, the object appeared to be morphing and moving into and out of this trail, perhaps suggesting that it was being emitted from the whole object rather than a specific place on it. The trail appeared to be directly behind the object. Phil has a lot of experience of observing jet aircraft and knows how their trails appear at different angles. The photographs suggest that the object was possibly changing shape or morphing relative to the trail, although it could have just been rotating to different angles.

Soon after the incident, Phil sent some of the images to UFO researcher Martin Slough to see what he thought of them. Just like Phil, he had no idea what the object could be and agreed that it looks extremely unusual. In June 2010 Phil sent me all the high resolution photographs he had taken of the object. Some of these photos are analysed and discussed below.

Here is an zoomed view the UFO. As you can see, it appears to be a very strange shape with rounded domes protruding from it. It looks to be metallic and reflecting sunlight. The extensions with possible blue lights at the ends are not really visible in this initial photograph, but throughout the sequence the object appears to change angle or actually morph into different shapes. You can also see the strange vapour trail behind/below the object:

The whole sequence of photographs is very long. Rather than show every single shot, I have chosen specific zoomed photos which show the object at various angles or performing different actions.

In the below photo, the object appears to have completely vanished into the vapour trail apparently pouring out of it. This is very strange and suggests that the vapour sometimes surrounds the object as well as just pouring out from behind it. It does this numerous times throughout the photographic sequence, remaining hidden for up to three frames before becoming visible again:

This photo is from after it has “reappeared” from out of the vapour. As you can see the appearance is now different, probably because the object has rotated to a different angle:

In this photo it is possible to see what looks like small blue lights around the upper edge of the body of the object. From this angle these do not look like they are protruding from it very far, but later photos suggest otherwise:

Later in the sequence, one of the photos shows the object as looking more like a star shape, with clear rounded triangular sections. It is impossible to know the angle the object is at (Of course this assumes that it actually has a front, back, top and bottom):

This compelling photograph, taken from towards the end of the sequence, shows the object as a rounded hexagonal shape. At the top and possibly the bottom it is possible to see two protrusions, at the ends of which appear to be small blue coloured lights:

Sighting Analysis

The object that Phil photographed on this occasion truly is an anomaly. The photos taken are the most bizarre set of UFO photographs that BUFOG has yet received, and I find this sighting completely fascinating. Without his telescopic camera, this would have been nothing more than a tiny dot reflecting light. Many high altitude UFO sightings end up like this, with no way of knowing whether the object is something mundane or out of the ordinary. But thanks to the equipment available at the time of this sighting, we instead are left with many photos of a highly unusual structured object. It clearly looks to be solid, and looks like it is emitting a vapour trail of some kind. It looks completely different from any conventional aircraft. It is unlikely to be a remote controlled model due to the high altitude it appeared to be at. Also it looks nothing like an inflatable object or a bunch of balloons tied together. LED balloons do feature small glowing lights, however balloons do not emit a visible trail behind them.

If you have ever seen anything similar to this or know what the object could possibly be, please do get in touch. For now it remains an intriguing mystery.

Conclusion

Over the last few years Phil has managed to capture some very interesting objects on camera. While some of them may well have mundane explanations, all of them certainly look very unusual, and display characteristics different to many normal aerial objects. I am certain that he will continue to watch the skies over Coventry, and will continue to film UFOs, and if he stays in touch this report will be updated with these further sightings.

Out of all the cases I investigate, the majority tend to remain unexplained or I feel that an advanced craft of unknown/extraterrestrial origin is the most likely explanation. However occasionally I receive a case which I am able to solve beyond reasonable doubt. This is one such case. It is a great example of how a mundane object can be misperceived as something out of the ordinary due to a prior lack of knowledge about it. The fact that the object was captured on video camera certainly aided in its identification.

Sighting Details

The incident took place on a day in May 2010 at 2.30pm in the afternoon. The witness Andy (name changed for privacy reasons) was out in the back garden of his house on Gladstone Road, Hoddesdon. He had been putting up some garden furniture and was having a well deserved break. It was a hot sunny day with no clouds in the sky and very little wind.

An aircraft caught his eye and he glanced up at it. As he did so he noticed another object in the sky to the South. The object was shaped like a long thin cigar. It was gliding slowly across the sky and appeared to be about 90-120 feet in height. Andy decided to go and get his camcorder from the house so he could zoom in on the object. He returned to the garden, zoomed in on the object and began to watch it via the camera screen.

Despite the fact that his camcorder is not very high quality, he was still able to get a clear view of the object. To Andy it appeared to be metallic silver in colour. It looked about 30 feet in length. Initially he thought it must be some kind of inflatable, but as he watched its movements seemed unusual and controlled. As well as moving along in a straight line, it also appeared to be rolling over in a clockwise direction. As it did so he suddenly saw what appeared to be multi-coloured lights running along it. These would flash up brightly for a moment before dying back down. The object then gradually slowed down, before starting to ascend at a sharp angle.

After watching the object for a couple of minutes, Andy decided to go round to the houses next door to him to get his neighbours so they too could see it. He ran around to the front doors of the houses, but nobody was in which frustrated him. He ran back into the garden expecting the object to still be present, but it was no longer visible. Andy wished he had stayed put so he could have witnessed the object leaving the area. It was a clear sky so it seemed odd that it was now gone.

In the days following the sighting Andy told numerous friends and family about the sighting and showed them the video footage. Nobody could explain what he had managed to capture, and some of the people he showed were impressed with the unusual movement and lighting displayed.

Sighting Analysis

When I received the initial sighting details off Andy it was initially hard to say what the object was. I thought that it may be an inflatable, however this did not really explain the coloured lights or apparent large size of the object. However once Andy sent me the video footage to take a look at, it was immediately clear what the object in fact was. What Andy had witnessed and filmed was almost certainly a solar airship. These are long black tubes made out of thin plastic and filled with air. On a hot day, the air inside heats up causing it to lift into the air. Usually solar airships are tethered with a kite string, however it looks like the one Andy filmed was either intentionally un-tethered or it had broken free from its tether and was drifting across the sky in air currents.

The “coloured lights” which can be seen at various moments of the footage is in fact the sunlight being reflected off the smooth surface of the airship as it moves and rotates. It was probably this that caused Andy to interpret the object as being a metallic silver colour rather than black. The movement pattern of the object can just be put down to air currents it is caught up in. When Andy returned to the garden and found the object was no longer there, it had probably just drifted off out of sight.

Due to the clarity of the video footage and the fact I have seen similar footage numerous times before, I am certain that the object is a solar airship, and therefore this case is closed.

May - June 2010 - Merthyr Tydfil - Silver Sphere Sighting

Sighting Details

Early afternoon on a cloudy and windy day in May or June 2010, Jim (name changed for privacy reasons) was in his office on High Street, Dowlaise, Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. He decided to glance out of the window. His office overlooks the district of the town. A local church, St Illtyds, makes up part of this view. The church is about 600-700 metres away from his company’s office building.

While staring out of the window a small object in the air over the church caught his attention. Directly above the steeple, about 12 feet above the top of it, was a grey/dull silver coloured sphere. It looked between the size of a foot ball and a beach ball. The sphere was completely stationary, which completely perplexed Jim considering the fact it was a breezy day. He continued to watch it. After about 30 seconds it suddenly started to ascend upward at a slow but constant speed. Jim was astounded at how controlled it appeared – it did not look like it was randomly drifting. Within 30 seconds of it beginning its ascent, it vanished into some cloud.

Sighting Analysis

This is an interesting sighting of what may well have been a genuine ET craft. Small silver spheres are one of the more commonly reported types of UFO, and have been seen all around the world. They are often seen to perform intelligent controlled manoeuvres similar to what Jim described. Due to their size they are widely believed to be unmanned, and are probably used for observational purposes.

Obviously some silver sphere sightings may well be misidentification of stray balloons drifting in the sky. However the manoeuvres this object performed seem to suggest that it was under control. It was a windy day and yet it remained motionless for a short while. Then when it did start to move it went straight upwards and at a constant speed. If it was a balloon or other drifting object it would surely have been buffeted around in the breeze. Due to its small size it is not out of the question that it was a remote controlled model or military drone of some kind. However it had no visible means of propulsion or lift. Due to the fact that UFOs such as this have been seen and reported many times before, I feel that it may have been one of these craft.

23/04/2010 - Lighthorne - Brown Cigar UFOs Sighting

Sighting Details

On the morning of 23rd April 2010, Company Director Carl Theakston was driving back from London to Birmingham, with a passenger named Emily Darby. It was 10.25am and they were between Junction 10 and Junction 11 of the M40 motorway, close to the village of Lighthorne, Warwick. It was a bright sunny day with clear blue skies.

On the left hand side of the motorway, Carl suddenly noticed what looked like five or six cigar-shaped objects in the sky to the North West. They were dull matt brown in colour. They appeared to be about half a mile away and about the size of a large car , but it was hard to judge their distance and so their actual size accurately, they may have been further away and larger. The objects were in a rough spherical formation and appeared to be at quite low altitude, about 200 metres. They were hovering completely still. He asked Emily if she too could see the objects and she verified she could.

Both witnesses were astonished by what they were looking at. They watched them for 10-15 seconds, then suddenly all the objects completely vanished without trace. The witnesses continued their journey and chatted were both mystified by the incident.

Sighting Analysis

This is an interesting and unusual sighting, and one which may well have been of something out of the ordinary.

Due to the appearance and low altitude of the objects, there is a possibility that they were inflatables or balloons of some kind that were tethered into place. However it seems odd that there would be 5-6 of them. Also if the objects really did suddenly vanish as Carl said they did then this suggests they were something else entirely. The witnesses were sure that the objects really had gone and not just been hidden behind something.

Obviously other explanations for the objects are quite limited. The description sounds nothing like any known conventional aircraft. The proximity of the objects to each other also puts this out of the question. So it remains an intriguing sighting.

I hope to get in touch with the 2nd witness to ask for their opinion of what took place, if I succeed in doing so, this report will be updated.

13/04/2010 - Hall Green - Orange Orbs Sighting

Sighting Details

It was 9.40pm on the evening of 13th April 2010. On Creswell Road in Hall Green, Phil headed outside to lock the front gates of his house. It was a clear night with no wind, and the stars visible in the sky. Looking to the North East East in the direction of Birmingham airport, he saw two orange round balls of light. They appeared to be at high altitude and moving at over 100mph.
They were side by side and looked to be quite close to each other. As the objects got nearer, Phil decided to run into the house and get his wife Emily. They headed back outside to see what was happening.

By now the objects were almost overhead. They looked to be quite large in size and were glowing a fiery orange. Emily estimates they were about the same size as a metro. The witnesses noted they were completely silent. The orbs passed overhead and continued on a straight course to the South West West. Emily was so amazed at what she was seeing, it brought a tear to her eye. Shortly aferwards, one of the orbs flashed a few times and then went out. They could still make out a rounded object against the night sky due to the proximity, which continued on the same path it had been taking. A few seconds the second orb which also vanished. The whole sighting lasted for a couple of minutes.

Sighting Analysis

Often a sighting such as this would be put down to Chinese lanterns. Many of the aspects of the sighting at first appear to fit in with this expalanation - the colour and shape of the objects, the straight flight path and lack of obvious intelligent manouvres, the fact that they suddenly went out/vanished. The objects were clearly too slow to be meteorites, and are highly unlikely to have been earth lights, as these are not seen over urban areas and do not last for very long.

But Emily does not believe that they were lanterns. She informed me she has seen lanterns on numerous occassions before, but these objects were different in a number of ways. She says that the lanterns she has seen before looked like orange candle light with a bright centre and hazy outline, and also flickered. These objects were like huge bright balls of fire, almost like meteorites but with no trail behind them. They were constantly bright. She believes the objects were moving much too fast for lanterns. When Phil ran into the house to get her the orbs looked quite far away, but by the time theyd headed outside they were almost right overhead. Also their path looked very controlled, the lanterns she had seen previously had more random drift to them. These orbs maintained course and positioning to each other throughout the sighting.

On the other hand, perhaps these objects were a different kind of lantern to her previous sightings. At night time it is very hard to judge distance, and therefore size and speed, accurately as there is no point of reference. Could the objects have been much closer and much smaller than how they appeared to be? Even though it was still at ground level, perhaps they were caught in a strong air current which could have been responsible for the very straight flight path of the objects. Another possibility is that the two objects were linked in some way (for example by a string), and this link was unable to be seen against the night sky.

If there is a normal explanation for the objects, it is more than likely to be Chinese lanterns, but it is still interesting that Emily feels they were something else after seeing lanterns many times before.

October 2000 - 11/04/2010 - Mortlock Family UFO Sightings

Over the years Bob Mortlock and his wife Debbie from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, have had numerous sightings and taken numerous photographs of UFOs. This report will cover each incident seperately in detail.

October 2000 Black Triangle UFO Sighting

Back in 2000 Bob and Debbie were living at a house in Harlow, Essex. On a Sunday in the October of that year, they went to a car boot sale being held on Barrows Road. It was a bright day with scattered cloud and was quite windy. Harlow is on the direct flight path for planes landing at Stanstead Airport to the North East. At 1.00pm in the afternoon, Bob noticed a 747 jumbo jet on its approach from the South West at an altitude of about 5000 feet. As he watched it get closer, he suddenly became aware of a second object on the same flight path at the jet, approximately half a mile behind it. The object looked like a black coloured equilateral triangle. It had no protrubences or undercarriage, and looked about the same with as the jet but not as deep. On its underside was a square marking which was brown in colour, but other than this no further details could be seen.

He immediately stopped watching the jet and concentrated on the unusual triangular object instead. When it got to about half a mile from his position, it suddenly stopped and turned 90 degrees on its axis to the left. It then continued moving at the same speed it had been to the North West in the direction of Ware, flying against the wind. It was completely silent. After a short while it vanished into some cloud, and did not reappear.

Bob felt that the object was a craft of non-human origin, due to the impressive manouvering capabilities displayed. He has been interested in aviation since an early age and was convinced it was not a conventional aircraft of any kind. He feels that if it was a secret military craft they would not have been flying it in broad daylight in such close proximity to other aircraft. The normal seperation distance between aircraft is at least 2 miles, but the triangle was only half a mile behind the plane.

This is certainly a very interesting sighting and the most convincing Bob has had. Black flying triangle craft have been seen many times before all around the world, especially over the last couple of decades. I have personally investigated a number of cases involving very similar craft, although the brown square on the underside of the object is not regularly reported. It may have possibly had lights but because it was the middle of the day they could have been switched off, or hard to make out in the daylight. The object sounds too large to have been a model, and it appeared to be under intelligent control, following along after the jet before suddenly turning and then continuing on a level flight path. As it was the middle of the day, there may have been other witnesses to this object, but Bob is unaware if anyone else at the car boot sale saw it.

Bob is planning to send me a drawing of the triangular object, once I receive it I will add it to this section of the report.

July 2006 RAF Fairford Airshow Disc UFO Photograph

In July 2006, Bob and Debbie were staying on Totterdown Farm camping site just to the West of Gloucester. The campsite is on a hill which overlooks the airfield of RAF Fairford to the South. Every year an airshow is held at RAF Fairford, and Bob would get a good view of the planes from the farm. During the airshow, Bob decided to get some photographs on his Canon EOS 350 digital camera. It was a bright sunny day with scattered cloud. Among others, he took a photograph of a Mirage 2000 fighter jet about mid-day.

Later one when he checked through the pictures, he noticed a black dot on the picture of the Mirage jet. When he zoomed in on the picture, he realised the dot was actually a disc-shaped object in the distance. He kept the photograph on disk, but has currently not been able to track it down. He is looking for it at the moment, and if he finds it he will send me a copy to add to the report.

July 2007 RAF Fairford Airshow Cigar UFO Photographs

The following year, Bob was again taking photographs of the planes at the airshow from Tottendown Farm. This time there was a clear blue sky. When he checked through the photos, on several featuring an F18 jet he noticed a semi-translucent, blunt-ended cigar shapd object. This object was at a different position in relation to the jet in each photograph. In one it was near the nose, one off the port side and one near the tail.

The strange shape did not appear on any other photographs taken that day so Bob does not believe it was a camera glitch or something on the lens.

The object is clearly semi-transparent and a long cylindrical shape with defined flattened ends. It is interesting that it is at a different angle on each photograph, this shows that it cannot have been something stuck to the lens of the camera. However I feel that it is likely to have been something tiny floating a short distance in front of the camera lens while Bob was taking the photos, such as a hair or seed casing. The fact that it is blurred while the jet is in focus supports this theory. Also if the object really was up there next to the jet at the time then lots of other people would have also captured it on their photographs, and the jet pilot may have even seen it and tried to perform evading manoeuvres. This would have almost certainly been reported either by newspaper or TV, or at least been discussed online. However to Bob's knowledge nobody else reported seeing the same object.

19th March 2010 Disc UFO Sighting

A resident who lives near to Bob and Debbie recently informed them about a sighting she had on 19th March. It was about 8pm and she was in her house at the time. She looked out of the window, and to the South in the direction of Welyn Garden City she saw a bright glowing object in the shape of a dinner plate hovering in the sky. It was about 3000 feet up and was stationary. Suddenly it massively accelerated and shot off in an Easterly direction on a straight path, and vanished from sight.

This is a very interesting sighting indeed. The appearance of the object and the impressive movement pattern observed clearly indicate it was something out of the ordinary. It is unlikely to have been a conventional aircraft or meteorite as it was stationary to begin with, and the massive acceleration and speed described means it is highly unlikely to have been a helicopter. It was also the wrong shape and much too fast to have been a lantern or lit inflatable. Sadly I am not able to speak with the elderly witness involved to get more details about this incident as she is very reclusive. If she tells Bob and Debbie any further information about it, they will be added to this report.

11th Apil 2010 Yellow Light Sighting

Around 8.30pm on the evening of 11th April 2010, Bob and Debbie were in the residents lounge in the building where they live. Looking out of the window they saw a very bright yellow-orange ligh in the sky to the West, in the direction of Hitchin. It was as bright as a fog light, and more yellowish than an amber street light. It was completely stationary and appeared to be about 3 miles away. After a couple of minutes it suddenly vanished without trace. Bob was sure that the object had not simply been hidden behind cloud. He feels is was not a Chinese lantern because it did not move at all, lanterns usually drift across the sky or slowly gain in altitude.

The object was unlikely to have been a helicopter, or plane flying towards his location, because these do not suddenly turn their lights out. Also there was a flying ban at the time due to ash clouds caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Despite Bob’s feelings about the sighting, this may well have been a lantern. The colour and appearance of the object tends to support this theory. It may have been moving slowly but this movement not visible due to the distance. The fact that it suddenly vanished could have been the flame inside it dying out. As it was simply a light that was on and then switched off, I cannot say either way for definate.

Conclusion

As you can see, Bob and Debbie have had a number of interesting sightings. It seems unlikely that these incidents were linked in any way, it is more probable they were just at the right place at the right time to experience them. The black triangle sighting was especially interesting, and seems to have been of unusual craft of some kind, possibly of extraterrestrial origin. It is a shame that Bob has been unable to locate all the UFO photographs he has taken, but if he finds them they will be added to this report. Because of what he has personally witnessed, and stories he has heard off other people, Bob certainly believes in the reality of UFOs. If him or Debbie have any more sightings he says he will keep me informed.

09/04/2010 - Burton-Upon-Trent - Orange Orbs Sighting

Sighting Details

It was 8.50pm on the evening of 9th April 2010. David was driving home from his local gym in Burton-Upon-Trent. It was a clear evening and the sun had just set. He was almost home and driving along Derby Road when he suddenly noticed two glowing orange orbs over the Pirelli Football Stadium to the West of him. They appeared to be between 700-800 feet high and were constantly bright. As he watched, one of the lights suddenly vanished.

He arrived home just South of the stadium. Getting out of his car, he walked 5 yards to get a look at the remaining light. It was still present, and appeared to be hovering motionless and silent in the sky. After a couple of minutes, like the first light, it too suddenly vanished.

The lights looked very similar to others he had seen on the 4th April in West Yorkshire.

Sighting Analysis

This particular incident shows all the signs associated with a sighting of Chinese lanterns, and I feel it was probably these that were responsible. Lanterns appear as glowing orange orbs of light, which sometimes remain constantly bright and sometimes flicker. When the flame inside them burns out they appear to dim and vanish without trace, as after dark the lantern itself will not be seen falling to the ground. The lights Dave saw showed no sign of being under intelligent control; they simply hovered in the sky and then vanished. It was a clear night, so there was no wind which could have caused them to drift. They may well have been slowly gaining altitude, but at a distance this may not have been visible. Not all orange lights seen in the night sky can be explained away as lanterns, but those seen here more than likely can be.

06/04/2010 - Oldbury - Orange Diamond UFO Sighting

Sighting Details

At 11pm on the evening of 6th April 2010, Brian (name changed for privacy reasons) had just left his girlfriends house. He was on the corner between Warley Road and St Johns Road in Oldbury, Birmingham and was walking home. It was a quiet evening, with light cloud cover obscuring the stars from view. It was still and the temperature was mild.

Brian’s attention was suddenly drawn to a glowing light in the sky. He looked to the source of the light, and saw a glowing orange light. It was moving towards him from the South South West at about the same speed a plane would fly at. It appeared to be quite high, at least several hundred feet, but was below the cloud layer. At first he assumed it was a plane, and so merely glanced at the object before continuing his walk.

He walked a short distance along St Johns Road. He looked up again into the sky. The object was now a lot closer and he could see it definitely was not a conventional aircraft of any kind. The object was diamond shaped and glowing an orange-red colour. There were no visible markings but its straight edges were clearly visible. It was hard to judge its exact size but considering it looked to be at significant altitude, it must have been quite large. Not only was it a lot closer but it was also now stationary in the sky, and completely silent. It appeared to be within a mile of his position. Brian stared at the object for a few seconds wondering what it could be.

Suddenly the object appeared to duplicate into two vertically. It did this within a couple of seconds. He could now see two diamond-shaped objects, one above the other. The upper object then massively picked up speed and flew right across the sky in the direction of West Bromwich to the North North East. The remaining object then began moving away back the way it had come from, and at the same time descending in the sky. Brian continued to watch it until it vanished behind some trees in the direction of Barnford Hill. He was absolutely convinced that he had seen something out of the ordinary that could not be easily explained, and also feels that someone else must have also seen what had taken place as it was very visible in the night sky.

Sighting Analysis

This is a very interesting sighting indeed. Often orange/red coloured lights seen in the sky at night turn out to probably be sightings of Chinese lanterns, but there are a number of aspects to this case that certainly suggest otherwise. The shape of the object suggests a solid structure – lanterns are usually rounded or cylindrical in shape. The fact that the object appeared to duplicate into two (not split in half), and the movement patterns throughout the incident, especially the incredibly fast acceleration of one of the objects, means that many of the usual explanations can be discounted.

It appears that the objects were under intelligent control. The object which moved away from the location very rapidly moved too fast for it to have been merely drifting in a sudden gust of wind – it covered the entire sky in a couple of seconds and was soon out of sight in the distance. It seems very unlikely that a remote controlled model of some kind would be responsible – the duplication into two would be very hard to do convincingly, and again the acceleration and speed of the 1st object was much too fast. Obviously the incident cannot have been down to meteorites, as the initial object had stopped moving before it duplicated into two.

It is interesting to consider what happened to the remaining object. The witness was certain that it was descending in altitude as it moved away. Although he lost sight of the object before it reached ground level, perhaps it did land somewhere in the distance away from him, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Although there were no markings or visible propulsion which would suggest the objects seen were craft of some kind, their movement patterns certainly point towards this possibility. If you feel you may have also seen one or both of the objects, please get in touch with me.

April 2010 - Cookstown, Northern Ireland - Silver Egg Shaped UFO Sighting

Sighting Details

Around 2pm on an afternoon in April 2010, Mr K. Hagan was at the back door of his house in Cookstown, Northern Ireland. He was having a cup of tea and standing outside as it was a sunny day with only partial cloud cover.

Mr Hagan happened to glance up into the sky and noticed a strange object directly overhead. It was egg or oval in shape, and metallic silver in colour. There was a dark line on it, and he could see that the object was rotating. It appeared to be between 50-100 feet in length. Mr Hagan estimates it was about 2000 feet in the air.

The object was moving very slowly in a South Westerly direction. Mr Hagan was amazed by the sight of the object, he had not seen anything like it before. He called his wife outside so she could see it too. She watched for a short while before returning inside. Mr Hagan continued to watch the object for half an hour. During this time it slowly moved over the roof of his house and headed away to the South West. In the end it was too close to the sun and he could not see it anymore due to the brightness.

Sighting Analysis

The object seen in this incident was clearly not a conventional aircraft of any kind. However I feel that the most likely explanation for it was a silver coloured balloon or inflatable of some kind. The fact that the object was moving very slowly on a straight course and rotating fits in with it drifting slowly on an air current. It did not perform any manoeuvres which would indicate intelligence. Mr Hagan estimates it was quite large in size; however it is often hard to judge the size of aerial objects accurately as there is no point of reference. So the object may have been smaller and closer than it appeared to be.

The fact that Mr Hagan watched it for half an hour yet did not manage to take any photographs or video of the object is disappointing. Often when people see UFOs they are too excited or intrigued by what they are seeing that they completely forget to try and capture it on camera. The fact that it was seen in broad daylight over a residential area and moving at a slow speed means that there were likely to have been other witnesses who are yet to come forward.
